Mr. Wm. Patton, of Thornhill, is
paying a visit to old Bluevale friends.
A. meeting was called for Tuesday
night under the auspices of the Women's
Institute to make plans for contributing
towards the Canadian Hospital Ship by
the women of this district. This is a
very worthy project and will no doubt
be heartily supported by the patriotic
people of Bluevale and surrounding
country. The Women's Institute is'one
of the most progressive societies we have
and deserve the commendation of every-
one who is interested in the welfare of
the community. In conjunction with
the cemetery committee they have
in hand the work of improving and
beautifying the cemetety and have re-
cently had the fence and buildings neat-
ly painted. Mr. Jas. Carberry did the
work in a satisfactory manner. The
Institute has now appointed a commit-
tee to make plans for building a side-
walk to the station and an effort will
probably be made in the near furure to
raise funds for this purpose. This is a
much needed local improvement and
the ladies are assured of the sympathy
and support of the whole neighborhood
in their efforts.
Arrangements are being pushed for-
ward by the committee in charge of the
Old Boys' Re -union which is to be held
on the olcl school grounds on Saturday,
Sept. 5. All em -pupils and teachers are
especially invited to be present as well
as the general public. An athletic and
musical program will be provided and
addresses will be given by a number of
those eonneeted with the school in the
past. All former teachers will be
given an opportunity to speak. The
eo-operation of all residents of the sec-
tion and aurrounding country is desired
to make this a red-letter event in the
history of the neighborhood, Bring
your basket and spend a happy after-
noon with memories Of the past.
