Hand made
Christmas decor
At the November Grand Bend Wom-
en's Institute meeting a display of hand
made Christmas tree decorations was
very unique and interesting. Some of
the ornaments were tatted stars, knitted
wreaths, ribbon angels and quilted
Christmas symbols. The ornaments all
had sentimental value as they were
made by children or close friends. Marg
DesJardine aided us in constructing
rustic string stars. We used yarn, cord
or string to create our own stars.
President Glenn presided for the
business meeting. It was noted that the
Ontario Women's Institute will restruc-
ture the Districts and Areas now in use.
An Ontario W1 branch resolution to
have amber flashing lights on school
buses will be presented. 'these amber
lights will flash before the red lights as a
warning that the bus will stop. This sys-
tem is already in use in Manitoba. The
WI helped to Implement the red flash-
ing light system previously. A monetary
donation was given to the Agriculture/
Water Festival. ROSE: coordinator Barb
Kilback gave a Spring Awakening up-
date. Demonstrators and speakers have
been booked for this April 2014 event,
The next WI Book Club meets
November 28 at the library to review
Sarah's Key. On lanuary9 a librarian
will speak to the members. The next
Library showcase project is "Christmas
Cards". Our next WI meeting is Decem-
ber 19 and a Christmas meal will he
enjoyed.
