'This site involves a natural area that is both a Provincially Significant Wetland (PSW and a Provincially Significant life Science Area of Nat- ural and Scientific interest (ANSI) and is an ideal locution to bring school children throughout Lambton Shores for environmental education and field walks. 'Trails in Lambton Shores are being developed and maintained for use by all age groups. 'Ihe Lambton Shores Nature Trails( I.SN'1') intends to make at least a part of each nature trail accessible to those with disabilities. A new bridge would open this area to everyone to enjoy this hid- den treasure in our community. As you c:an see, this project is not just about a bridge, it's about connecting people to Nature and in doing that encouraging people to appreciate and respect what we have in this area. ft's about enhancing and protecting the inlets and creek's eco -systems through education and maintenance. It's about engaging our youth in healthy and posi- tive activities. With your help we can stake this a reality. The three men wanted his representation because he is a leader within the First Nations community, said Maynard' 1'. George during a 'lltesday hearing in Sarnia court. Justice Deborah Austin trade the ruling, rejecting George's representation Wednesday. Lambton Crown attorney Diane Foster opposed George's representation saying he is not lawyer or paralegal and does not meet gov- ernment standards designed to protect peo- ple's rights. George said he has represented people in court proceedings citing his efforts surround- ing the First Nations seizure of the former army camp in Lampton Shores. One of the three men was charged by the Anishinabek Police Service with driving while disqualified on the Kettle Point First Nation. Another was charged by the same police set -v- ice with impaired driving and possession of 10t+irtrfi r'' S[t'tr7417/flt"4l:f",'rITVtSoli'r,.•Ir.1,,.rrt,1.117.m.ft. Under Ontario law Justice Austin said she had no discretion to permit George's request. Ills potential punish- ment includes jail time of more than six months. An agent could represent the other two men but that trust he balanced with their constitutional right to a fair trial, said Austin. Material presented by George indi- cated his confusion about the jurisdic- tion of courts and raised personal and historical grievances that would not be relevant, said Austin. The grievances raised include First Nations land claims and the validity of police authority. Raising those grievances would only serve to confuse and prolong court pro ceedings, but the trio did not trust law yers, said Austin. One of the men saki lawyers he con Meted wanted nothing to do with the issues he wanted raised in his trial. Following Austin's decision George requested time to consider the next step. The trio's next court appearance is Dec. 9. neiLbou,en(ci stn n,edia.cel MAKI (A Wjtil i l irrUn., ',DH ret rY rues /irt.eermrelis y. % ‘%.nutttr.,%% o.11.r.t 1 -P $k•$'2211171
