ft Rugby community
gathers to recognize
and celebrate
Bob Illman
Lakeshore Advance
It was an evening to
remember for rugby great
Bob Illman.
At the Oakwood Inn in
Grand Bend, Ontario, many
guests, including family,
friends and supporters
came out to celebrate the
career and passion of
Illman.
On this evening of cele-
bration, the rugby commu-
nity, led by Southwest
Rugby, did exactly
that. They honoured Illman
for his years of dedication
to the sport and how much
they appreciated all that he
has done for the growth of
this game.
"In working with Bob
over a number of years, I
can personally speak to just
how hard he has worked to
grow the game of rugby in
this province, and the pas-
sion he holds for the sport,"
says Domenic Scuglia, Pres-
ident of Rugby Ontario.
"Bob is one of the most
dedicated individuals I
have had the pleasure of
working with. Ile has a
commitment to the sport
that deserves to be recog-
nized, and I am glad we can
all take time to recognize
Bob."
Bob Illman (third from left)
was celebrated royally by his
fellow Rugby community.
Graham Brown, CEO for
Rugby Canada also recog-
nizes how important this
night is to honour Illman
"It's always great to rec-
ognize individuals in rugby
who give so much of their
time. Titne away from their
family and their time to
make the game what it is in
Canada," said Brown fol-
lowing the event.
Illman has been involved
in rugby both on and off the
pitch. From playing, coach-
ing the Ontario Under 18
Women's side at the 2008
Summer Games, to being
elected as a President of
Southwest Rugby, he has
done it all.
Ile was also recognized
for developing young refe-
rees for officiating the
sport.
His incredible journey
and love for the sport
started in 1969 and whether
he continues to dedicate
his time or not, what he has
done for Rugby will live on
for generations to come.
