In an amazing depiction of those four days one hundred years ago as presented by the St. Joseph and Area • Historical Society. Written by Duncan McGregor and music by David Archibald - this community play brought 840 people to Hessenland Country Inn during two weekends. The actors, from all walks of life took the Audiences from early November 9th 1913 before the storm to the aftermath as bodies begin to wash up on shore. In his greetings, Bluewater mayor Bill Dowson said "This small society has stood up to the plate one more time to make Bluewater and the County of Huron proud. We have people with talent, time and desire to make sure our heritage is preserved for many generations to follow." Canada's first female captain of a Great Lakes freighter and first female marine pilot in Canada, Lillian Kluka (who now resides near Mitchell) chats with researcher Pat Rowe. Writer, director Duncan McGregor was on hand during the performance. Musical director David Archibald (Blyth Festival) provided the gripping sounds of the storm and the aftermath of the Great Storm. Author and historian Paul Carroll with wife Mary was emotional during the true- to- life presentation of the hurricane that ripped through the Great Lakes the week of November 13th 1913.
