Orandbend 510.238.1321 Community dollars from Foundation Lynda Hillman-Rapley Lakeshore Advance The Grand Bend Community Foundation is excited to have made a $4,000 grant to Algarve to help with their window replacement project. "These windows were installed in 1952, and are extremely inefficient, so this grant Is will hep us make the Algarve building both much more comfortable and useful during the cold winter month, and will decrease our environmental impact " says Jim De Zorzi from Algarve. Algarve hopes to cut their heating bill in half when the new windows are installed later this year. "What a wonderful project when we can help the environment, improve the usage of a building used by the community and hopefully let Algarve keep more of its funds available for the wonderful work they do." The Algarve organization is dedicated to support those which mental disabilities and all our fundraising is dedicated to that effort. The Algarve building is located at 10080 Klondyke Rd in Grand Bend. The Grand Bend Community Foundation Provides community leadership, promotes philanthropy and provides grants to charitable projects in the greater Grand Bend area. It looks like winter, but The Aquafest organizers are already planning next summer's event. They are thrilled to accept a $5,000 grant from the Grand Bend Community Foundation. Aquafest 2014 is scheduled to take place on August 8, 9 and 10th and will be Aquafest's 6th annual event engaging, education and empowering people to preserve and protect water. The team of volunteers is already planning to mount signature events including the student art contest, the Great Lakes Chowder Competition, the children's learning activities, the photo contest and show, and the art exhibitions, canoe displays and rides, films and hikes. "Families live and visit grand bend to enjoy the lake and every year through Aquafest they can Join in festivities that give them a deeper appreciation of our environment and the importance of water. Events are focused on providing enjoyment, participation and real meaning that they take with them for a lifetime of survival and healthy living." says Aquafest Co -Chair Marissa Vaughan.
