Local business award nominees announced

Chamber of Commerce has
finalized its list of nominees for
the Business of the Year Award,
Entrepreneur of the Year Award
and the David Scatcherd Com-
munity Spirit Award to be pre-
sented at its business awards
event - Celebrate the Season,

The Business of the Year
Award is presented in recogni-
tion of accomplishment in one
or more areas, including envi-
ronmental consciousness, prod-
uct research and development,
marketing innovation, increased
sales, business development or
turnaround, employee relations,
product services and quality.

excels in customer service and
demonstrates good corporate
citizenship.

Christmas cozy with the scent of pine, the sound of carols
and the warmth of family. Grand Bend and area residents are
invited to celebrate this festive time with the lion' s Club and
Charles Dickens. Nov a Christmas tradition across the coun-
try, a dramatic reading of Dickens' A Christmas Carol will he
presented at 'Ihe (;rand Bend United Church on November
24th at 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit Lion's Club for community
projects, in true Dickens' fashion.
"It is a truly fantastic production," said Lion's member
Margaret Steadman. "It really gets everyone into the Christ-
mas spirit and slakes a real difference for a local charity (cur-
ing this special time of the year."
The Grand Bend production of A Christmas Carol features
well-known personalities with playwright Paul (;iufo as M(:.
Lynda 1 Tillman-Rapley, Bill Carson, Bryan Beattie, Mayor Bill
Weber and Dinah 'Taylor will provide a production that will
surely get you into the seasonal spirit.
Since 1990, people across Canada have been crowding into
churches and theatres to hear Dickens' timeless story read
aloud over the holiday season. Produced in over 100 commu-
nities across Canada, the Christmas Carol raises money for
local charities such as food banks, shelters, libraries and
hospices.

Spirit Award is presented to a commu-
nity member who goes beyond their
usual role, who is community minded
and known for their support, commit-
ment and dedication to making the
Gran(' Bend Area a more vibrant, pros-
perous and welcoming community. The
recipient has a self -less way of making
the community it priority and truly
believes in community spirit.
