It's Not Too Early for Christmas in St. Jacobs!
A heartfelt story about love, friendship, and
loyalty will make your days merry and bright this
holiday season as Irving Berlins White Christ-
mas takes centre stage at the renovated St. Jacobs
Country Playhouse.
Ticket sales for this sentimental classic, which
begins preview performances on November
20th, are so swift that 6 additional performances
have been added to the schedule to keep the pro-
duction naming right through the holidays until
Sunday, December 29th.
"White Christmas is the perfect fancily musical
to get everyone In the sprit of the season," says
Alex Mustakas, Artistic Director of Drayton Enter-
tainment. "By extending the run, more people
will get to experience this timeless musical."
Based on the classic 1954 film starring Bing
Crosby, Daumy Kaye, Vera -Ellen, and Rosemary
(:looney, Irving Berlin's White Christmas tells the
story of Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, a pair of
World War ll vets who became friends when thew
entertained the troops and am now partners in a
successful song -and -dance act after the war.
Before flying to Florida to enjoy the weather
and perform ha a holiday show, the duo follow a
beautiful sister act to a gig at a Vermont lodge,
which happens to be owned by their former
army c onmuuuder General Waverly. Wallace lord
Davis soon discover that the innkeeper is down
on his luck financially with no snow, no guests,
and many unpaid bill.. It's up to this entertaining
team to save the inn ... and fall in love with the
beautiful sisters along the way.
'Ihe uplifting musical features a dazzling score
with stairwell known standards as "Happy 11o1i-
days," "Blue Skies, "Sisters," and the perennial
favourite, "White Christmaas"
Renowned Director and Choreographer,
Michael Iidhtefeld leads this production with an
impressive list of credits including a number of
musicals on Broadway and Off-Broadway, many
seasons at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival,
and past Drayton Entertainment hits including
I low to Succeed in Business Without Really
Trying and Guys and 1)oils (2011), Sweet Charity
starring Cynthia Dale (2010) and Evita (2009).
Joining Lichtefeld on the Creative Team are
Music Director, Elizabeth Baird and Lighting
Designer, signer, Kevin Fraser.
Audiences will be delighted by the talent in
this production, which includes Jeff Irving and
Kyle Blair as army buddies Bob Wallace and Phil
Davis. Leading ladies Jayne Armstrong and
Rachel Crowther portray the 1 layne sisters, Judy
and Betty.
Drayton Entertainment favourite Victor A.
Young will take on the role of General 1 tenry
Waverly, with Jayne Lewis as Martha Watson.
The cast includes Thomas Alderson, Matt
Alfano, Anna Bartlam, Matt Cassidy, Stephen
(:ota, Sarah I tarries, Jessica 1 tom, Keely 1 Tutton,
Sarah Mutton, (:had McFadden, Melanie
Mc:lnenly, Gregory Penllx'r and Mike'IYacz.
