However, Bev also knows that the best way to find out what
concerns farmers have is to get out in the field with them.
While home in his huge, rural riding of Lambton-Kent-Mid-
dlesex, Bev will often be seen pulling into a farmer's driveway,
heading out to the barn, getting on the combine or sitting
down with them for a cup of coffee and a chat. He is a staunch
supporter of agriculture and looks forward to continuing to
serve not only his rural constituents, but farmers right across
Canada.
In accepting the appointment last week, Bev said It is a
privilege to be selected as Chair of the Federal Agriculture
Committee. l believe our farmers are as efficient as any in the
world. They must be supported as they compete against the
trade tariffs and the treasuries of our competing trading part-
ners, giving them the tools and encouragement for innovation
and compeddon:'
Bev's experience on the international Trade Committee
positions him well in his new role as Agriculture Chair as the
Government moves forward with the implementation of the
Canada EU Trade Agreement. (CETA) and further expending
trade around the world.
