Bluewater Centre for Raptor Rehabflltatlon to bring live owls
to Owl Prowl east of Exeter on Saturday, November 2, 2013
Public can choose from one of three sessions starting at
5:30 p.m., 7 p.m., or 8:30 p.m.; Space is limited so organizers
invite participants to come early.
People can choose from one of three times for this year's
one -night -only Owl Prowl near Exeter - but space is limited
so organizers urge you to come early for the starting time you
prefer.
This is the first year the Bluewater Centre for Raptor Reha-
bilitation will bring live owls to the Owl Prowl at Morrison
Dan) Conservation Area, according to Julie Stellingwerff,
Conservation Education Specialist with Ausable Bayfield
Conservation. "'Phis year promises to be very special with
this new addition," she said. "Hundreds of people have
attended this event over the years an(1 learned about owls
and their many unique nocturnal adaptations"
This year's event takes place on Saturday, November 2,
2013 at Morrison I)am Conservation Area workshop, two kil-
ometres east of Exeter, on 71108 Morrison Line, Just south of
1 Iighway 83. 'Ibis year's event will be the first time people will
have the chance to choose from one of three starting times.
People may choose to attend one of the following three ses-
sions: 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m, or 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., or 8:30 p.m. -
10:30 p.m., subject to availability. families with younger chil-
dren are encouraged to attend the earlier sessions.
The Owl Prowl event is free but donations are always wel-
come to support conservation education. People taking part

It's an exciting time at Blyth Festival. Next summer the the-
atre will celebrate a milestone its 40th season of producing
professional theatre. In announcing the shows of the 40th
season, her first as Artistic Director, Marion de Vries is
"renewing the vow" to Blyth Festival's original mandate to
create and produce professional Canadian theatre that
reflects the stories, culture, and concerns of our community,
region, and beyond.
"Where the heart is. Mat's how 1 feel about this commu-
nity and Blyth Festival," says de Vries. "It is truly remarkable
that we are celebrating our 40th season in 2014. The 40th Is
the Ruby anniversary, a rich colour of commitment, loyalty,
creativity, and love. We are dedicated to making excellent
theatre that will delight and engage the hearts and minds of
our audience."
The 2014 mainstage season begins on June 25 with the
world premiere of Kitchen Radio which Marion de Vries
wrote while Canada Council Playwright in Residence at Blyth
Festival, and which Eric Coates then commissioned for future
production. David Archibald is 1.iarion's co-lyricist/com-
poser on this musical about women and country music. Next
is the celebrated award-winning Canadian classic Billy
Bishop (goes 'I'o War written and composed by John
acl.achlan (gray in collaboration with Eric Peterson. 2014

War. This play is the first in a "Memorial Series" that will be
produced at Blyth Festival between 2014 and 2018 plays
that look at war, peace, the hone fires, and the lives of Cana-
dian forces personnel and veterans. The third show is the
world premiere of Stag and Doe, an outstanding new comedy
by first-time playwright Mark Crawford. Mark grew up on a
beef farm in mid -western Ontario and has been to countless
Stag and Does - so his characters ring true. The final show on
the mainstage is the world premiere Of Gil (;arl'att's St. Anne's
Reel. Gil has been writing this drama for Illyth Festival for the
past couple of years, and it's a beauty.

will be presenting in the Phillips Studio, the Young Company
creation, and the special events we are planning to celebrate
the anniversary of our 40th season will be forthcoming.

The Owl Prowl is billed as a night of fun and learning about
nature. Staff members present facts about owls. People who
take part get to join in a moonlit, guided night -hike owl
'hoot.' Some people have seen and heard Eastern Screech
Owls during this unique chance to learn about these special
birds.
