"Our goals for entering the Communities in Bloom pro- gram were to build community pride, raise environmental awareness and highlight the profile of the Municipality of Bluewater," said Bluewater Blooms Co -Chair Jim Fergus- son as he expressed his pleas- ure at receiving the awards and commented on their impor- tance to the community. "Our Five Blooms award is recogni- tion of our successful achieve- ments in those areas. Winning the provincial heritage cate- gory award in addition is like icing on the cake and is a trib- ute to the many volunteers in our community who work every day to snake Bluewater a favourable place to live. 'Hie award validates the efforts of the local Heritage Advisory Committee to edu- cate residents of their long and rich history and is one of eight criteria for which each com- munity is judged by Communi- ties in Bloom. The other cate- gories are: tidiness, environmental action, urban forestry, landscape, turf ground covers, floral displays and com- munity involvement.
