Shirley Norris has been a hair stylist for longer than
she can remember. As the owner of Hair Bend'rs,
Shirley says the biggest challenge is to to find the right
blend of co-workers! "As you know you spend the
biggest percentage of time with them! We are fortunate
to have found that blend at Hair Bend'rs. We do have
fun & enjoy our profession. But really the clients make
our success!”
Shirley & Sherry's most important business discovery is
knowing "there are 50 shades of grey."
One constant for Hair Bend'rs is knowing their clients enjoy their experience and
want to come back.

Although this is the first year Cori has been at Hair Bend'rs- she has 15
years of experience as an RMT.
"Every RMT brings their own style to the profession and I feel I adapt
well to my clients needs due to my experience," she says.
Cori said she had to face the decision to leave her practice in London and
clients whom had been with me for as long as 12 years to start from
scratch in Grand Bend to re -build her business.
"The most important discovery I've made in the past year was find-
ing Hair Bend'rs as a place to practice from. The amazing co-workers
I have made the transition easy and every work day is fun. I've met
some great new people and have built u wonder-
ful clientele."
Cori explains that balancing life and work is
incredibly important to her. "Working in Grand Bend allows me to be close
to my children's school and my flexible schedule allows me to be involved
with a lot of what they do. Cori is at Hair Bend'rs year round, T iesday to
Friday 9-5 with flexible hours for client needs.

Nicole Gunn has been in the esthetician business for
nine years. She is currently at Hair Bend'rs. She says her
most important discovery in business is that it is okay to
laugh and cry with her clients, "We all need a shoulder
sometimes."
Most days she wears many different hats — "esthetician,
social worker, bartender, she says.
"I love the relationship 1 have with my clients. I get to
help people feel better, they always leave here with a smile."

For close to three years Jackie Stenhouse has made shopping locally
easy at It's Thyme Seasonal Gifts and Home Decor.
"I try to listen to my customers when they are looking for certain gifts,
home d6cor etc. 1 look for items that are different and one of u kind, also
trying to incorporate local, handmade Canadian products. My customers
express that they can always find a gift and it will be gift wrapped ready
to go - one stop shopping with u personal touch," she says.
Jackie says she hus been fortunate to have a great local support with her
previous experience in the restaurant husiness. "I couldn't imagine open-
ing my store as u new person to the area. The only challenge 1 can reflect on the tine- tuning of
my products." Balancing work & home life is made easy by the help and support of my husband
Richard.
With It's Thyme Seasonal Gifts and Home Decor entering its third season Jackie has discovered
"how fortunate we are to live in a small town and how many people shop locally and support each
other." She also says she is fortunate to have great suppliers who are very informative about trends
and great items

dreamed of opening my own clothing store for some time but knew that
the right location. merchandise & staff were key to nuking my dream
a reality. 1 prefer to think of any obstacles & challenges 1 encounter
as opportunities from which 1 continue to learn & grow as a husiness
woman. Grund pend is a unique and dynamic town with women who
possess these same qualities. 1 make every cftbrt to insure that DJBU
Fashions cater to the individual nerds of each customer. Making contacts via email has been
an effective method of staying in touch with my customers. 1 offer quality merchandise and
reasonable prices so that the customer can create a wardrobe that is timeless. I carry functional
pieces as well as unique styles that change with the seasons. i love what 1 do, and because 1
enjoy it 1 don't feel like it is "work". This belief hus been crucial to my success. I understand
that every woman is different and that each one of us has a unique style. 1 pride myself in
getting to know my customers, asking questions to help pin point their individual needs and
offering merchandise for

For nine years Ruth Hosford's smiling face is the one you see when you
step into Grandpa Jimmy's Scotish Bakery. With her husband Bob they
have created a destination bakery, with customers coming from Toronto,
Michigan, Windsor, all over! "We have customers send our product to
family in Japan, Texas, Florida. There are no other Scottish Bakery's in this
arca of Ontario. "
She says that moving from a rented property south of town to their present
locution, "people are still trying to find us!" She adds that trying to attract Owner/Manager
more customers is always a challenge.
"With a down turn in the economy, people are spending less, we have had
to expand our husiness beyond Grund Bend and start going to Farmer's Markets and to
Wholesalers," she explains adding that upxlating their web page and Facchook page is one of our
most successful and convenient ways of contacting our customers.
"We have u traditional artisan product and recipes that have been handed down. 'These will never
change. Customers like the taste they remember from their Grannies' kitchen."
Our hours are on our website. Currently open at from Wed. - Sun. Sant - 5pm. Seasonal and will
close after Christmas for a few weeks.
