Tim's renos will be `worth it in the long run'
Lynda Hillman-Rapley
Lakeshore Advance
Getting your double- double at the Grand Bend
'rim 1 lortons may be a little frustrating this fall- but
the proposed renovations will make up for the
inconvenience.
This popular coffee spot is proposing to reno-
vate the interior and exterior of the existing Tim
i lorton's in Grand 'fend. As part of the renovation
they are also proposing to introduce a dual lane
ordering area for the existing drive thru and to
alter the existing Ontario Street, North driveway
access along the north side of the building to slake
it a one-way driveway system with two lanes; one
to accommodate the drive thru traffic and one to
accommodate access to the parking located along
the north lot line.
Lambton Shores Planner Patti Richardson
explains that the design of the Tim Horton's site in
Grand Bend has always been problematic as the
site is small. "The changes proposed should
improve traffic flow and better accommodate
drive thru traffic," says Richardson,
Grand Bend manager Tracy Payne says the con-
struction will take a month, hoping to be hack into
the store by November 8th with a grand reopening
to follow a couple weeks later.
At the mobile trailer you can get most of their
products from the window expect ice coffee and
they don't have a full donut- muffin display.
Although the steeped tea machine was down last
week- it should he up and running now.
"We have soups and chili, breakfast sandwiches,
but we aren't doing oatmeal," says Payne adding
the speaker box is as soon as you drive in. She cau-
tions to be careful when coming in as you need to
watch for people walking up to the trailer and the
workers. "It will be worth it in the long run," she
says. There is a drive-thru and a walk up to win-
dow and there is also a picnic table out there as
long as the weather holds up. '1'ims is also still
open 24 -hours,
"We also have loyalty cards we are handing out.
After your first purchase at the mobile window,
your next coffee is free and your seventh one is
free.

Diane Taylor introduced Mike
Miller from Lakewood Nursery ( ;enter.
Mike took courses at the l)niversity of
Guelph and has been In Landscaping
business for 33 years. The seasons
bring challenges for the gardener.
'!'here are the weather extremes, e.g.
hot and dry last year, cold and wet this
year. Mike talked about government
restrictions on chemicals, yet another
challenge without pesticides. Sadly, a
virus has attacked the impatiens, and
they're done. Mike provided advice on
grass seed. There is now a more
aggressive seed and it is best to buy
good quality. More information was
given about bulbs and how to protect
from deer & squirrels.
Mary Burdon thanked Mike for
his interesting talk. Mary has known
Mike for many years.
President Doreen Chester opened
the business meeting. Representing
the nominating committee, Ann
Robertson announced that we have a
full roster for 2014.
i)oreen Mcllarg thanked those
working on the Guild Gala. 'Picket
