Driver charged for

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have
charged a driver from Grand Bend for
driving over twice the posted speed
limit.
On September 4, at approximately
5:54 p.m. an OPP officer was
patrolling Hyde Park Road by
Maplewood Lane in the Municipality of
Middlesex Centre when a northbound
white Chevrolet Silverado truck was
observed travelling at a high rate
of speed. The officer measured the
vehicle to be travelling 120 km/h in a
posted 50 km/h zone.
A traffic stop was conducted and
as a result of the Investigation, police
have charged a 39 year old man from
Grand Bend, under the stunt drive
legislation. The Chevrolet truck was
impounded and the driver's licence
was suspended for seven days. The
driver was issued a Part III Summons
to appear in a London Court to answer
to the charge.
Middlesex County OPP will continue
to target impaired, aggressive and
suspended drivers. Citizens are

Break, enter & theft •
EXETER — Huron County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) officers are
investigating a break, enter and theft
that took place at the Dollar Tree
Store located at Main Street South in
Exeter. On September 1, 2013 just
after 9:00 a.m. officers were notified
of the break and enter by a Dollar Tree
Store employee. Sometime during the
Tate night hours on August 31, 2013
somebody forced entry through a side
door and proceeded to steal a quantity
of cash taken from inside the office.
Approximately $50 In damage was
caused to the door.

Traffic stop results
In over 80 charge
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) has charged a 31 year
old male with Drive Motor Vehicle
– Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. At
approximately 2:40 a.m. on August
31, Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers stopped a white
Mercedes-Benz that was travelling
northbound on Charles Street In the
village of Bayfield. Officers spoke
with the driver and noted the driver
had been drinking alcohol. A roadside
test was administered which resulted
In a fall. The driver was arrested and
was transported to the Huron OPP
Detachment where he provided two
samples of his breath; both were over
the legal limit.
A 31 year old man from Etobicoke
has been charged with Drive Motor
Vehicle -- Over 80 Milligrams of
Alcohol. He has a court date
scheduled for the Ontario Court of
Justice – Goderich on October 7,
2013. He received an automatic 90
day driver's licence suspension and
the motor vehicle was Impounded for
seven days.
Drug possession
charges laid
Two males have been charged with
drug possession charges following
a traffic stop on Airport Line near
Crediton Road. Shortly after 2:00

p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officer stopped a Ford
F-150 pickup truck for a suspected
traffic violation. After smelling the
strong odour of marihuana officers
noticed Illegal drugs in plain view. Upon
searching the vehicle an additional
quantity of suspected cannabis
marihuana and cannabis resin were
located. Both the driver and passenger
were arrested.
The driver, a 21 year old man, from
South Huron has been charged with
Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Cannabis Marihuana contrary to
Schedule II Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act.
• The passenger a 23 year old man from
South Huron has been charged with
Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Cannabis Resin contrary to Schedule
II Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Both males have been released from
custody and are scheduled to appear at
the Ontario Court of Justice – Exeter on
October 24, 2013.
Long weekend wrap up
Lambton County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers responded to 276
calls for service.
66 of those were in the Grand
Bend area and were minor in nature
consisting mostly of liquor offences and
noise complaints. A total of 84 charges
were laid In Grand Bend over the
weekend which was up from the 76 laid
in 2012 over the same weekend. The
tickets totals issued are as follows:
Liquor Licence Act – 47
Highway Traffic Act –14
Trespass to Property Act –16
Public Lands Act –1
Municipal By -Law - 1
Three charges were laid under the
Controlled Drug and Substances Act and
2 driver's licence suspensions were also
issued. Tho more significant incidents
are highlighted below.
Impaired drivers
arrested and charged
On September 2 at around 1:15 a.nt.,
Lambton County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers located a
suspicious Pontiac vehicle In a parking
area on Huron Street. While speaking
with the occupants, it was determined
that the driver had been consuming
alcoholic beverages. During the
investigation a quantity of suspected
Cocaine and alcohol were located in
the vehicle. The driver, a 22 year old
man from Essex, has been charged with
impaired driving, being over the legal
limit and possession of a controlled
substance. The passengers, a 31 year
old man from Oshawa and 2.7 year old
man from Adelaide -Metcalfe Township,
are both charged with possession of a
controlled substance. CABLE is also
charged with two counts of failing to
comply with a court order. They will all
appear in a Sarnia court at a later date
to answer t0 the charges.
