Former Playhouse artlstic director speaks at GuHd luncheon
'ihe Huron Country Playhouse Guild
held their Aug. 28 luncheon meeting
at Sandhills Golf Club, with 60 attend-
ing including guests. Charter member
Phyllis Wilkins was a guest. She was
president when tent to barn transfor-
mation took place. More guests
included Ann Holmes, a new member,
Nancy Robison from St. Joseph, and
Liz Leatherland, who is originally from
Scotland but now lives in Grand
Bend.
Val Webster introduced our guest
speaker, Aileen'ILylor-Smith. Aileen is
a former artistic director and actress
at the Playhouse. She recalled her
experiences acting in "The Show Off "
in a tent in 1973.
She came back the first year the
barn was built. Aileen talked about the
benefits of summer theatre.
Everything about the present thea-
tre pleases her. When the show
starts,"It's Magic Time."
. Doreen Mcliarg thanked Aileen for
her delightful talk. Aileen is our only
honorary Guild member.
President Doreen Chester led the
business sleeting. As we wind up this
season at the Playhouse, committee
convenors thanked all who worked
this summer, especially those newer
members who stepped in to help. Our
membership Is now 102 members
strong.
Doreen McI larg announced plans
for the 2014 Gala, which will be May
15th at the Legion. 'Ihe meal will be by
FINE. Tickets will go on sale at the
September sleeting at a cost of $100.
Cheques are accepted end may be
post dated to Feb. 1 . To purchase, you
can contact a guild member.
Sue Haines announced next sum-
mer's Book Sale. Save your hooks over
the winter, fiction only.
The September luncheon sleeting
will be Sept. 25th at 1 tessenland, when
a gardener from Lakewood Nursery
will be the speaker with tips for our
autumn garden. For more information
contact Marguerite at 238- 2331.

member, and was a guest speaker at the
luncheon. Wilkins is a Charter Member
of the Guild and was the President of
the Huron County Playhouse Guild when
the first tent -to -barn transition took
place for the theatre.

anniversary of
the murder of U
Morag Davies.
She was found
in the bed-
room of her
Retlaw Drive
home. Ms. Davies died as the result
of multiple stab wounds. 'ihe mur-
der weapon has not been
recovered.
This murder remains unsolved,
but police are convinced someone
out there has information that could
lead to the identification of the per-
son or persons responsible for the
murder of Morag Davies.
Ms. Davies deserves Justice and
her family deserves closure.
