with reception at meetings

l,tunbton Shores Mayor
Rill Weber and C.A.O.
Kevin Williams have been
busy sharing Council's
concerns and suggestions
with Provincial Ministers
and their representatives
at the recently concluded
Ottawa meeting of the
Association of Municipal-
ities of Ontario.
Lambton Shores Coun-
cil proposed a number of
topics for discussion with
Provincial decision mak-
ers, and were pleased to
receive four specific invi-
tations to talk with the
Ministry of Aboriginal
Affairs, Ministry of Mural
Affairs, Ministry of'Ibur-
ism, (vulture and Sport
and the Ministry of Natu-
ral Resources.
Topics ranged from
requests for assistance
with economic develop-
ment initiatives to sugges-
tions for enhanced Ow -
mites control. Weber was
quick to point out that
while certainly no prom-
ises were made and no
cheques were written, the
meetings provided an
opportunity for good
direct dialogue about
issues important to the
community. "I am very
pleased with our recep-
tion, and equally pleased
that our presentations
were given due ronsident-
tion. We have been able to
strengthen relationships
with the Province and
only good things can
come of that in the
future"
The conference ended
Wednesday with over
I6O0 delegates from
Ontario municipalities in
attendance.

New historical plaque
Thanks to the efforts of the Municipality of
Bluewater Heritage Committee, the Huron
Heritage Fund, and the Ontario Heritage
Trust for their collaboration and financial
contributions- the St. Joseph & Area
Historical Society has been able to replace
the Narcisse Cantin historical plaque at
the St. Joseph Memorial Park. The original
plaque was stolen from the park two years
ago. Their generous funding for the new
signage was officially acknowledged during
the Society's annual Breakfast In the Park
on Saturday, August 17th. A new plaque
dedicating the statue of St. Andre was
also unveiled by the Society at the same
event. Pictured in front of the new Narcisse
plaque are Municipality of Bluewater Mayor
8111 Dowson and Mike Miller, President of
the St. Joseph & Area Historical Society.
