The Buddy Holly story is one that •
attracts theatregoers- no matter how
many tithes they have seen the
production.
One stage, one legend, one incredi-
ble show. After sold -out runs In 2003
and 2006, the award-winning Buddy -
ihe Buddy holly Story returns to the
Huron Country Playhouse for a lim-
ited two-week engagement, July 17th
through July 27th.
4 ecutive producer Steve Roth says
.s one of those classics that people
love. This production is pure summer
entertainment. Holly's life as a star was
short- two years -in fact. Born in 1936,
he would have been 77 this year. This
production is coming to 1 !CPI 1 from an
American tour company
which means the cast, set and cos-
tumes are on a national tour and that
is exciting for the Grand Bend theatre.
The show hit the road two months ago
and the next stop- after Chicago is
Grand Bend. Roth says this project is
as vibrant and entertaining as every
concert !lolly ever performed.
More than fifty years after "the day
the music died," rock 'n roll's golden era
is revived in this electrifying musical
that chronicles the life of Charles

This production is a
brilliant tribute to a true

1lardin Holley from his roots, singing
country music in his high-school audi-
torium, through his spectacular rise to
worldwide fame, to his final perform-
ance with The Crickets at the Surf Ball-
room in Clear Lake, Iowa.
"Buddy The Buddy !lolly Story has
become a classic 111 musical theatre
and it's known as the most successful
rock 'n roll musical in they world," says
Alex Mustakas, Artistic Director of
Drayton Entertainment. "'This produc-
tion is a brilliant tribute to a true artis-
tic pioneer."
A spirited musical biography, Buddy
- The Buddy !lolly Story takes you on
an unforgettable Journey through Hol-
ly's triumphs and tragedies, from his
humble beginnings in small-town
Texas to his rise up the record charts
and into the hearts of music fans
around the world.
Holly's unique style inspired and
influenced many great musicians of the
'60s and '70s, from The Beatles to The
Rolling Stones. The tragic news that
Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The
Big Hopper had died in a plane crash in
America's Midwest in 1959 not only
stunned trillions of fans around the
world but it left a permanent void in
rock 'n roll history.
Andy Christopher and Kurt Jenkins
take it In turns to don the unmistakable
horn -rimmed glasses in the title role of
Buddy holly. Both Christopher and
Jenkins are wonderful in the role and
they successfully capture the idealism,
power, and complexity of a musical
icon. 'they sing, dance, and play guitar
with exuberance, reproducing I lolly's
vocal and instrumental dexterity in a
performance that will certainly raise
the energy in the historic Playhouse.
"We are absolutely thrilled to bring
back this exhilarating musical," says
Mustakas. "Our audiences in Grand
Bend will be delighted."

It is not that far fetched to imagine a
double booldng of a cabin- it happens. But
how often does It actually happen where

never know what's going to happen next."
Furfaro embraces the comedy genre
again, having directed numerous plays for

Odd Couple, Funny Money and Separate
Beds. ltrrfaro has a proven ability to foster
split-second timing, impeccable delivery,
and rhythmic pacing.

Eager to rekindle the flame
In their marriage, Peggy per-

for a weekend vacation in the
Catskill Mountains. 'There's
only one small problem - their
secluded one -bedroom cabin
has been double hooked by a
frisky young couple that are
unable to keep their hands off
each other.
The decision to share the
tiny cabin for the weekend is a
formula for disaster - and
sidesplitting humour - as
youthful exuberance collides
with middle-aged stodginess.
