The (:hippewas of Kettle and
Stony Point have added their
name to the long list of those
communities who do not want
wind turbines in their backyard.
At a Lambton Shores tweeting
last week (thief Tom Gressette
said their community has issue's
that include health, land, plants,
birds, waters, air and minerals.
Bresset said they were not
against green energy but felt that
they have been misinformed and
the turbines are effecting the
radio station, that people are
having trouble sleeping and even
the animals are being effected.
"Europe is seeing issues. Are
we going to wait till something
happens before we d o
something?" he asked. flee said
there must be other options to
deal with green energy that don't
include turbines.
-the government has not done
enough research," Bressette said
adding that his council supports
Plympton Wyoming and their
fight for more municipal power
to snake decisions.
The KSI' First Nation council
r'e'solved that they " fervently
oppose and prohibit any current
and future intrusive construc-
tion and operation of wind tur-
bines within its traditional terri-
tory" in keeping with their right
to protect and preserve the life
within their territory including
"people, land, plants, animals,
birds, waters, air and minerals."
"'They may look nice and the
money may be good for some-
thing but we don't need this
and I don't know why we are
doing this," he said referring to
the installation of the turbines.
Ile said their purpose of
bringing this to !minium) Shores
was to let everyone know where
they stood. Mayor Bill Weber
said they have also sent their
letters of displeasure to the
government.
