groundwater at various locations adjacent to the
great lakes"
Ile said the MOI'. is currently searching for sys-

not be requited to incur any costs associ-
ated with the proposed sampling
program.
Kintner said this request supports the
recommendation from the Ad hoc Com-
mittee approved in June of 2012 to con-
tinue groundwater monitoring, repre-
sents 0 partnership with upper levels of
government, and demonstrates a crea-
tive way to further the Ad floc commit-
tee's recommendations with no added
costs or additional resource commit-
ments from the municipality.
"'Phis request also complements the
decision at the April 8, 2013 Council
meeting to support the Southcott Pines
Park Association with continued ground-
water monitoring from the existing n)on-
itoring \veils to measure potential
impacts that may 1)l' related t0 septi(' sys-

grant proposal submitted by SPPA h-'
not yet been approved, and supportit
the MOI? program in addition to the
SPPA program will provide a failsafe to
ensure that recommendation from the
Ad 1 ioc Committee is implemented," he
explained.
Kintner said this request represents an
opportunity for Lambton Shores to gain
further insight on the groundwater con-
ditions along the Ikeshore without
impacting the existing operating budget.
Council agreed with Deputy mayor Eliza-
beth Davis Dagg voting no with queries

Armstrong East issues still not resolved
Lynda Hillman-Rapley
QMI Agency
I'he drama continues for Tong -time
residents in Armstrong East in Port
Franks regarding environment and the
use of vehicles and ATVs.
At the July 4 meeting council accepted
the many letters from concerned resi-
dents and referred thein to 0 July 19th
public meeting.
issues that have stemmed for more
than a couple decades continue to pit
neighbour against neighbour as to what
the people want.
Ina i latfield and McCoy situation, the
issues include one group of people stat-
ing the vehicles and A'I'Vs are environ-
mentally hazardous while the other
side " have been at loggerheads tvith this
handful of lakefront cottagers that seem
to think they rule the island forever. "
One missive said, "It is time you and
council see these people for what they
are and stop listening to the squeaky
wheel. "'They have clone more damage' to
the environment such as bulldozing the
top off sandhills at the lakefront creating
cottage sites, littering their dock sites
with derelict boats, trailer axles, aban-
doned dock parts etc, then any vehicle
use to and from cottages have, or will
ever do. This area was set up as a
planned subdivision with roads and road
allowances which provide us a legal
access to our property, the same as any
other subdivision. The people that use
these road allowances only do so, to
access their cottages, do not allow
children to operate these vehicles and
are slow careful de'libe'rate drivers, i10t at
all like the descriptions claimed be the
anti vehicle segment of our island. The
rest of us just want l0 be able t0 use our
cottages for enjoyment of our friends
and family and are very weary of being
attacked and pushed around by a hand-
ful of bullies that seem to be able to get
their own way by using underhanded
methods and using Council as their
instruinent,'
1 laving said that a letter also came to
council stating " "We have welcomed
and very sincerely appreciated the 11101'
efforts of AB(:A, the Pinery and tht-
Municipality to resolve the problem of
indiscriminate vehicle incursion into
this unique and fragile area and to stop
the resultant damage and destruction of
the natural habitat. however, these
efforts, consisting of notices, warnings
and face-to-face encounters, have unfor-
tunately proved totally ineffective in the
absence of any follow-up enforcement
measures."
"As a result, these aggressive vehicle
advocate's havt' chosen to continue and
extend their destructive activities - drir
ing where and when they want on
AIWA, Pinery, l,tunhton Shores undevel-
oped and heavily vegetated road allow-
ances and 00 private property - with
complete impunity and no regard for the
damage they do or for anything save
their own convenience and pleasure"
