at Lambton Heritage Museum

& 21 visitors to the Lambton
Heritage Museum will expe-
rience something new as
Lambton Shores Theatre
Works presents MAUD: a
portrait of L.M. Mont-
gomery, a short theatre pres-
entation based on the life of
Canadian author Lucy Maud
Montgomery.
Incorporating letters, jour-
nal entries, poems, and
excerpts from Montgomery's
novels, MAUD reveals the
extraordinary accomplish-
ments of a woman com-
pelled to succeed as a writer,
despite the societal con-
straints on women in her
time. This presentation is
being offered in conjunction
with the museum's 2013
exhibit Shine: Spotlight on
Women of Lambton.
Lambton Shores Theatre
Works was founded in Forest
in 2011 by Eleonore Prokop
and is dedicated to the crea-
tion and development of
innovative and dynamic the-
atre works, as well as provid-
ing ongoing theatre training
within the community.
Eleonore Prokop (CAEA/
ACTRA) is a Dora nominated
actress with a professional
career that spans three dec-
ades, working and touring
with companies based in
New York City and Toronto
including Theatre Gargan-
tua, Force 13 Theatre Com-
pany (NYC), and Masque
Ensemble (NYC). She was
co-director of Generic Thea-
tre Company with whom she
performed, choreographed,

and composed for 12 years. She has
taught workshops with Soulpepper
'Iheatre Company, the Canadian Opera
Company, and University of 'Toronto's
Outreach Program for Youth. In 2008
and 2010 she was Movement/Physical
Theatre Instructor at the Globe Theatre
Actor's Conservatory in Regina. She is
also a director with First Light 'Iheatre
Company.
Performances take place at 1 p.m.
and 3 p.m. on Saturdays July 13 and
July 20, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays Iuly
14 and July 21 and are included with
regular museum admission.
Shine: Spotlight on Women of Lamb -
ton embraces the lives and times of the
everyday women who have contrib-
uted to the social fabric of Lambton
County communities. The exhibit tells
the stories of individual women and
women in organizations, women who
changed the national stage and women
who shaped the local stage exploring
how the roles of women have changed
over time and includes details about
the changing role of women in the mil-
itary, women's rights, women's crafts
and fashion. The significant impacts of
women's groups on their communities,
women in business and education and
women involved in caring for their
families and as keepers of family
knowledge are all highlighted. One
thing these women all have in coin -
num: their roots In I.anthton County.
While at the museum, visitors are
encouraged to spend a few hours as
there are also other wonderful exhibits
to enjoy. Explore the heritage village
that includes the 1867 Cameron
Church, a blacksmith shop, the 1890
ltokehy school house, a slaughterhouse
and buildings housing a fascinating
assortment of agricultural and pioneer
implements. The museum includes
activities for children, a gift shop with
intriguing hooks on the local area, and
a tourist information centre. Mature
oaks shade the grounds and a picnic
shelter provides a lovely setting for a
rest stop.
The Lambton 1 lentage Museum is
open Monday through Friday from 10
a.m. until 5 p.m., and weekends and
holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admis-
sion is $5 adults, $4 seniors / students,
$3 children, anis $15 family. The
museum is 8 km south of (rand fiend,
