The Municipality of Lambton
Shores recognizes and honours the
achievements and contributions of
community volunteers. These pres-
tigious awards express Council's
appreciation of the many
individuals who are helping to
enhance the quality of life in Lamb -
ton Shores. We invite you to submit
nominations for those individuals
whom you believe to have made a
significant contribution to our
community.
lhe Volunteer Recognition Policy
and Nomination Forms are availa-
ble from any municipal office or
online. The deadline for nomina-
tions is Friday, July 26, 2013. The
completed forms can be dropped
off at any municipal office or
emailed to events« lambtonshores.

Input for federal budget encouraged

their input for the 2014
federal budget to the
I louse of Commons Stand-
ing Committee on
Finance.
Small businesses, non-
profit groups, industry
organizations, and
individuals are all invited
to participate in this
important process by mak-
ing a submission via the
Committee's online tem-
plate. All submissions will
help to inform the Com-
mittee's pre -budget rec-
ommendations, many of
which have ultimately
been reflected in previous
federal budgets.
"Job creation in Canada
has been the strongest
among all G-7 countries
and we have the lowest
debt level ratio in the G-7
by far," said Lobb. "As we
prepare for budget 2014 it
is Important that we get
input from all Canadians."
The deadline for
submissions is August
5th. Constituents can visit
the committee's website
at: www.parl.gc.ca.

the Standing Committee

the judges!
National Communities in
Bloom judges Bob Lewis and
Lucie Gagne arrive in Lambton
Shores on 'Tuesday, July 30. For
the following two days, they will
he whisked from one wonderful
sight to another from top to bot-
tom across the municipality. 'they
will meet enthusiastic commu-
nity members, admire magnifi-
cent gardens, hear about innova-
tive environmental activities, and
much, much more.
As it happens, Lewis and Gagne
also judged in Lambton Shores
last year. 'Ihe municipality ended
up winning the national award
for our category. We also won the
Houle Hardware Community
Involvement Award, were final-
ists for the Young Involvement
Award and received a special
mention for the Native Tree
project.
"We're delighted that Bob and
Lucie are returning this year,"
says Catherine Minielly, co -Chair,
Communities in Bloom Commit-
tee. "They've wonderful people.
But it does mean that we will
have to dazzle them with all that
we have achieved in the past year,
as well as reminding them about
what made us stand out last
year."
On July 30, the judges will visit
Arkona and Medford, ending up
at the Legacy Centre for a Com-
munity Volunteer Reception. Vol-
unteers from across Latnbton
Shores are welcome to attend the
event, which begins at 7:15 p.m.
'Ihe next day, the tour will include
Kettle Point, Ipperwash, Port
Franks, the Pinery, and Grand
Bend. On August 1, the judges
will tour Forest.
Everyone can help Lambton
Shores look its best for the tour.
Before the judges arrive, make
sure gardens and containers are
tidy and bright. Join in the 'trash
Bash events in each community
to do a final clean-up of litter --
check the website for the nearest
event. If you happen to run into
the judges, given them a warts LS
welcome.

competition!
4eluewater Welcomes Provincial Communities
in Bloom Judges July 10 -11th
The communities of Bluewater
are set to welcome the provincial
Communities in Blooms judges
from Wednesday July 10 to Thurs-
day July 11!
Two Judges Diane Czapla of
Toronto and Ray I curd of Goderich
will be taken on a personal tour
that will enable then) to assess the
community in eight categories and
award Blootns ratings. Points of
interest have been identified in
each community that fit into these
categories: Tidiness, Environmen-
tal Action, I leritage Conservation,
Urban Forestry, Landscape 'Turf
and Groundcovers, Floral Displays
and Community Involvement.' Ihe
local planning committee will also
be armed with lots of local infor-
mation to add between tour stops.
Burr stops on Wednesday July 10
include: growing bed for new sig-
nature daylily at Huron Ridge
Acres, 74101 Bronson Line, Stanley;
St Peter's Lutheran Church pioneer
cemetery at 11 Frederick Ave,
Zurich, where the 1860 cairn was
restored and tombstones held
inside were laid for public viewing.,
and at 4:30 p.m., please join us at a
ceremony to name the new par-
kette at 120 King Street, l Iensall.
Me community is also welcome to
join us to watch the sunset on
Wednesday July 10 at 9 pm at
Pioneer Park in Bayfield. We're
planning a special surp! On'lhurs-
day luly 11, tour stops include Bay -
field's Blue Flag marina and beach
and the historic downtown area.

The Communities its Bloom pro-
gram is not just about flowers; it's
about preserving our natural envi-
ronment through recycling and
tree planting programs; it's about
community groups showing off
our heritage and it's about munici-
pal staff doing their part in the Blue
Flag program, landfill and roadside'
maintenance. Many Bluewater cit-
izens of all ages are achieving these
goals in spades and some have
won awards! For example, the Bay-
field 'Tree Project, Bayfield River
Valley Trail Association, St. Joseph
and Bayfield Historical Societies,
Zurich and Bayfield Lions Clubs,
Hayfield Garden Club and 1 lensall

Society.
