Wednesday, June, 26, 2013 Discussion continues for harbour land title Lynda Hillman-Rapley Lakeshore Advance It was a surprise to Archie Gibbs that the June 20th meeting with Lambton Shores was open and not in-carnera consider- ing it was a land issue. In this land claim of Gibbs, with two options in mind, law- yer Philip Walden addressed council regarding the title of land at Grand Bend's harbour that is deeded to the Gibbs family. The harbour is not municipal- they lease from the federal government (Oceans and Fisheries) ,sublet to the fisherman and operate the gas docks). Gibbs is no stranger to the deal- ings of land battles as he dealt with the Village of (:rand Bend in his claims of beach ownership in the 1980s. That deal was settled In 1997. The Gibbs family were also the original own- ers of Gibbs Park that Archie's great-grandfather JM Gibbs with Wm. Dickson and ii.Bishop Nought what is now Gibbs Park from a Mr. Dalziel of Sarnia in June 1893.
