When living legend bluesman Eddie
Shaw and his bund the Wolf Gang per-
form at The Gables on Saturday, May
4th during the Arts, Eats and Beats
weekend, (rand Bend's audience will
be experiencing a true living legend
and a legitimate Zink to the greatest
icons in the history of Chicago blues:
Muddy Waters and I lowlin' Wolf.
Few blues musicians conte close to
accumulating a resume to match that
of Eddie Shaw, The tenor saxophonist
got his start jamming with Ike 'T'urner's
hand in the early 50s in Mississippi.
When he was just 14, legend has it that
Muddy Waters, who happened to he in
the audience one night, was so
impressed with Eddie that, on the spot,
he offered hits a full time job in his
world renowned band. Eddie soon
established a reputation as an innova-
tive player and fiery performer. A few
years later, he shocked some in the
blues establishment by joining I low -
lin' Wolf's ferocious live hand. Eddie
stayed with Wolf till Wolf died in 1976,
rising to the position of bandleader
and manager in the process.
Since 1976, Eddie Shaw and the
Wolf Gang has performed in virtually
every state in the 1J.S. and in over a
dozen countries worldwide; they have
