It provides clean, cost-effective energy to power our homes and businesses. It provides opportunities for local landowners to earn extra income to maintain their farms or land and support their families. And it enables each of us to contribute to a more sustainable future. At Northland, we believe that for Ontario to prosper over the long term, we have a responsibility. To develop energy and energy projects responsibly and sustainably. To share information and expertise that can benefit us all. And most importantly, to help each other succeed. In line with that vision, on March 28th, Northland Power entered into a 50/50 partnership on the Grand Bend Wind Project with the Aamjiwnaang First Nations, located in Sarnia, and the Bkejwanong First Nations, located on Walpole Island near Wallaceburg. Northland Power has similar partnerships with six First Nations communities for the McLean's Mountain Wind Farm on Manitoulin Island and with the Constance Lake First Nations for a series of q hydro projects on the Kabinikagami River. In each of these partnerships, our First Nations partners will provide so% of the equity required to construct the projects, and receive so% of the distributions generated over the 20 -year life of the Feed -In - Tariff (FIT) contract. Intelligent energy for a greener planet by Gord Potts Through incentives in the FIT and Aboriginal Loan Guarantee Programs, the government is ensuring that First Nations can participate in and benefit from renewable energy generation. We support these programs, here in Ontario and across Canada. Why? Because it's the right thing to do. At the signing ceremony, Northland's President and CEO John Brace summed up the rationale behind the collaboration: "Northland's partnership with the Aamjiwnaang and Bkejwanong First Nations reflects our shared commitment to sustainability. We're working together to create a stronger future — economically and environmentally."
