-The Local L O. L. has decided to
elebrate the coming 12th of July at
.Arthur. The Citizens' band will accom-
pany them.
-The bass fishing season opens neat
Monday, June lath, No doubt many of
our anglers will try their luck the
coming week.
-For the first time in several years,
jailer Griffin ono day last week reparted
the county jail at Goderich entirely
empty of prisoners.
-Several of the members of Maitland
Lodge, No. 119, I.O.O.F., attended
divine services with the brethren in
Wroxeter on Sunday last.
6 -The band will give their usual week-
ly concert in the park this Thursday
evening instead of Friday as eustoin-
ary. The band has an engagement for
Friday night.
-Wednesday of last week was the
King's birthday, he being 49 years of
age. The Union Jack floated over the
Post Office in honor of the occasion, but
the only people who took a holiday were
the bankers.
-Mr. W. IL Dyer, formerly of Lon-
don, who has purchased the business
conducted by Mr. A. Id. Crawford
for several years, has taken possession
and has moved his family here.
-Yesterday morning a young man
was summoned before Police Magistrate
Morton on charge of fast driving on
the Main Street the evening previus.
He pleaded guilty and was fined one
dollar and costs.
-A cyclone. of terrific violence Strik-
ing at a point about two miles north of
Woodstock early Saturday evening,
causing the death of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Bartley and the destruction of
property to the value of $7,000.
-Miss E. M. Mulvey and pupils will
hold an Art Exhibition of Decorated
China and Porcelaines at her studio, Car-
ling Terrace, on June 18th and 19th,
from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The public is
cordicily invited to attend this exhi-
bition.
-Mr, John Mann has rented the
photograph studio with contents from
Mr. Armstrong and intends in the near
future opening tip a photograph studio
the old stand formerly used by Mr.
Armstrong over W. Carter's shoe re-
pairing establishment.
-Mr. 0. Hayden has bought outthe
laundry business of Mr. Lee Con, and
will open an up-to-date steam laundry.
Mr. Hayden is well known in Wingliare
and his old customers will be pleased to
know that he will be ready to meet their
requirements next week.
-After being a resident of Lucknew
for over 51 years, Mr. William Geddes
has decided to move to Hamilton, there
to spend his declining days with his
wife, who will accompany bim, and
their daughter who has been ta resident
of the city for a number of ears,

as one of ministerial delegates from
London Conference to the meeting of
the General Conference of the Methodist
Church which will be held in Ottawa
next October.
