residents not interested in
paying for South Huron pool

'I he South Eluron conununity
and an outfit hired by the
municipality certainty were not
on the same page last week at
an invite only meeting. (This
newspaper was not told until
after the meeting that media
had not been invited).'Ihe item
of discussion was the refurbish-
ing of the 49 -year old outside
pool and enhancements to the
arena. At the helm were princi-
pals fnmi Invisij Architects Inc,
from Hamilton, was awarded
the Request for Proposals for
Nutt the Recreation Centre and
Exeter Pool.

There were 11 community
groups represented included
tax payers from Oakwood Park
and Grand Cove Estates who
told the forum there are two
inside pools in Grand Bend as
well as a lake- -so their interest
in their tax dollars going to this
project were pretty much zero.
Their council member, Bill
Francis was not in attendance at
this meeting as he is in Florida.
While the taxpayers from the
west said they don't want to pay
capital costs or maintenance for
a pool they won't use --the
other community groups felt
dollars should not be going into
