Vanbruaene passed away on November 14, 2011 at the : .. of 83. 1le ran a successful automotive repair shop in (;rant{ Bend for many years. I le %vas one of the plain forces behind telt' creation of the Grand Bend Area Community I lealth (:entre ((BA('1I(:). 1'o honour his memory and provide an opportunity for oth ers to do so, the Grand Bend Community Foundation (GBCF) and the Grand Bend Area health Services Foundation (GBAIISF) have each pledged $5,(0X) toward the introduction of an electronic medical record (EMR) system at the GBACIIC. "The FMB system will help us improve duality of care for our patients," says GBACHC Executive Director I)r. Glenn Bartlett. "'rhe system will allow us to share information with hospitals and other health pro- viders, moving closer to the day when people only have to tell their story once. It will help us manage complex chronic dis- ease better, spot abnormal lob tests, avoid drug interactions, make other improvements to patient cam and identify oppor- tunities for cost savings." The Grand Bend Community Foundation made its pledge of $5,000 during a meeting on December O. "We were delighted to get behind this impor- tant project," says Chair Pat Morden. "It was also a wad• to continue what we started with the Community Leaders of the Decade event - to recognize the many remarkable people who provide volunteer leadership in Grand Bend. Prosper is a shining example of the difference leadership can make.' She added that GBCF is thrilled to be working in partnership with the ! Iealth Services Foundation on the project. The Health Services Foundation decided to match the GR(:h pledge at a meeting on December 12, "Our mission is to support the (+BACIIC, and this project Is clearly a top pri- ority for the Centre," says GBAIISF Chair Dr. Bruce llough. "'through our annual appeal we are already supporting the FMR project -- this is a great opportunity to have even m' impact." A special event will be held in the New Year to present the Vanbruaene family with a posthumous GBCF Community leader of the Decade Award, recognize the donors, and announce the results of the campaign. In addition, a plaque listing all contributors of $2(X) or more will be mounted in the (i13ACI IC.
