Emceeing the evening was Jenni- fer Mossop, who impressed attendees with her stellar communication skills and warm, compelling style not only as the speaker of the evening but as a local resident who, like most others, got involved quickly when she moved to Grand Bend. Mossop is a veteran journalist with a solid reputation that won her a seat in provincial legislature. Before introducing Mossop, Grand Bend Community Foundation chair Pat Morden explained through the Com- munity Foundation the Rotary Club, the Huron Woods Association, the Grand Bend United Church and other involvements, she met many exceptional leaders - "some- times it seemed like virtually everyone in Grand Bend was active in the community!" she told the gala crowd. She explained that when it came time to mark the tenth anniversary of the Grand Bend Community Foundation in 2011, the Board decided there was no better way than through a celebration of the great leaders in this commu- nity. "Hank Krech, founding Chair of the Foundation, agreed to put together a committee and create this event from scratch. We put out a call for nominations, and .. the rest is history! Tonight we celebrate 48 extraordinary people." Morden said the most amazing thing is that they could probably have celebrated 100 or 200 people. "In fact, I'm quite sure Grand Bend has far more than its proportional share of community leaders. Shown here are some of the nominees and guests at the October 28th event.
