St. Anne's Catholic Secondary School held
their annual Grade 8 Tech Day on Tuesday,
aOctober 25 hosting seven elementary partner
schools from around Huron County. The Grade
8 lbch Day features a chance
for grade 8 students to get hands on experi-
ence in Communications Technology, Design,
Transportation,
Construction, and Manufacturing. Everyone
involved considered the day a great success and
a rich
learning opportunity.
Senior St. Anne's students facilitated a variety
of hands on workshops for the grade 8 students
in the 'MTh
Hall. Grade 8 students were able to experience
the safe use of shop tools across the spectrum of
Tbehnical Education. For example, in the con-
struction shop, students created a wooden pic-
ture frame to
house the digital photo they took and modi-
fied in the Communications Technology compu-
ter lab. The day
provided real world experience for the grade 8
students into what a technical career may look
like in their
future.
Mr. Overholt, the Head of the St. Anne's Tech-
nology Department, expressed his thanks to the
partner
schools and their teachers for participating in
the annual Tech Day. As well, he thanked the
grade 11 8/ 12
St. Anne's students for facilitating the work-
shops and sharing their expertise on the safe
operation of shop
equipment. Finally, Mr. Overholt thanked
both Principal Jodi Kuran and OYAP Coordina-
tor Tim Martens.
The Grade 8 lt,ch Day at St. Anne's was made
possible by the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship
Program.
