in the province's economy, environtnent

"I think the timing is good with a
minority government," said Bradley,
adding the premier has spoken recently
about collaborating with the opposition
at Queen's Park. "I think that's good
sign, and I think the publicly desper-
ately wants that right now."
The summit Bradley seeks would be
nonpartisan and include business,
labour, First Nations and the opposition
parties to chart the direction for Ontario
over the next five to 10 years.
"I think the old style of politics is
passe," Bradley said. "'the idea that one

Bradley believes Sarnia-Lamhton's experience with hold-
ing community summits involving business, labour and First
Nations representatives can be an example for the province.
Ills letter is being reviewed, according to Leslie O'Leary, a
spokesperson in the premier's office.
O'Leary said consultations will begin this fall with the
Southwestern Economic Alliance, unions and communities
into plans for a Southwestern Economic Development Fund
the liberal election platform promised will invest $80 million
over four years to attract investment and create jobs in a
region that includes Sarnia-l.etmbton.
"Details will be included in the 2012 provincial budget,"
O'Leary said. "'Ihe Southwestern Ontario Economic Devel-

without the blessing of this council -
they have nothing in place to accept
the dollars. Deputy mayor Elizabeth
Davis Dagg asked about service club
partnering and Turnbull said they
would like to see this. tie said they
would fundraise in 2012 and then
come back to council for funding
requests for the 2013 budget.
Councilor Dave Maguire asked
about this trail being on the east side
due to the fact people would have to
cross Ilighway 21 twice. The delegates
explained there are property issues
but this is something that may be
discussed.
Council was encouraged by this dis-
cussion stating it is key for trails in the
recreation and leisure plan. They
made a motion to ask for a staff report
with Turnbull and Prout working with
staff and then council could approve
in principle. Councilor Martin Under-
wood asked for a December date for
this report.
