Festival of Fitness and Ad in Bayfield

November of 2011 will see
the last piece of the puzzle
put in place. The puzzle

Huron County, having
banded together to raise $5
million, gained access to a
CT Scanner. In November
the puzzle piece in question,

for the women of Huron
County.
With the addition to this
full - field main og ra phy
unit, the County will have
among the best equipped
radiology departments of any
rural hospital in Ontario if
not Canada. This unit is Net-
ter able to detect the most
minute growth hi a breast
than is the conventional
process and will greatly
reduce the risks to women of
the county.
The Keeping Abreast Cam-
paign of the AMGH Founda-
tion has raised $350,000 of
required $550,000 for this
unit through the generosity
of business, service clubs,
individuals, municipalities
and community groups.
'Ihe citizens of Hayfield are
committed to supporting the
Keeping Abreast Campaign.
On Sept 30th and Oct 1st with
the generosity of 10 financial
sponsors, 70 volunteers and
the support of 24 groups, the
Village will hold the FESTI-
VAL 01 FITNESS ANI) ART.
The Festival is comprised
of two parts as suggested in
the name. Breastworks is the
banner name for a silent auc-
tion to he held Friday night

September the 30th and again on Satur-
day from 11 until early afternoon. Hay-
field artist Paula Letheren has corralled
over 55 artists from across Canada and
indeed the USA, and they have donated
pottery, painting, knitting, quilting,
poetry, baking and other arts to this
silent auction. A wine and cheese, gen-
erously sponsored by the little Inn, will
be held Friday night from 7 to 9. Enter-
tainment on both Friday and Saturday
will include three talented young pian-
ists, a local choir and the well-known
local playwright, actor and director,
Duncan MacGregor. All are welcome to
join the artists at this social event.
The Fitness portion of the Festival
includes cycling, running and walking.
Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday Octo-
ber 1, an 8 km. run or walk will mean-
der through the historic village and the
newly developed Woodland Trail. The
advanced entry fee is $20 and on the
day of the event is $25. Registration is
from 9 to 10:30 at the Hayfield arena.
The. Virtual High School of Bayfield is
the lead sponsor. While in the village,
you might wish to visit the newly con-
structed school on the Main St. oppo-
site the Little Inn. Water for this event
is provided by the Village Bookshop in
Hayfield.
This run is sanctioned by the Ontario
Masters as 0 regional competition and
medals are awarded to winners of each
age group. Individual high school
cross-country runners and school
teams are invited to participate with
medals awarded to junior and seniors
individual and team winners.
The cycling event that begins at 12
noon from the Hayfield arena and will
cover a distance 45 kin along paved
county roads in Illuewater. (:KNX and
Outside Projects of Hayfield have made
this event possible. Registration for this
event begins at 9 and ends at 11:30. '!he
cost: preregistration $40 and on the day
of the event $45,

there is a 3 km. route through the vil-
lage. 'Ihe cost for this is $20.
All those 16 and under can participate
in any event for $10.
It is worth noting that because of the
generosity of the Municipalities of Blue -
water and Central Huron and those
mentioned above, 100% of the funds
raised will be directed to the Keeping
Abreast Campaign of the AMU Foun-
dation for the purchase of the mam-
mography unit.
