Councillors; Doug lion- esteel, Ruth Illnlan, Dave Maguire, Leede Scott ttnd Martin Underwood under the watchful eye of Noreen (;rox- ford local member of the l•anlhton Shores accessibility committee took a small trip round Forest using wheel- chairs which were kindly lent by the Forest Legion, Branch 1716. "To say the experience was an eye opener would an understatement, From getting the \vheelchair (which 1 naively thought ought to be tight and compact) out and (11t0 the back of my car to my arms pumping away like some crazy piston engine provided my fellow Councillors and 1 a perspective of the world as seen from persons with the challenge of accessibility. I also gained new respect for Rick Monsen as he climbed the Great Wall of China, (1 mean Forest is flat!)," said l Inderwood. "Personally I will never look at a side- walk ramp the same way again, What 1 thought %v'as reasonable standing on two good feet is quite 11 different story when viewed from a chair with tiny front wheels that don't like uneven con- crete and rear wheels not ideal for stop ping. It is not unreasonable for all our citizens to have mobility and the ability to perform mundane tasks which most of us take for granted." HOME PLAN OF THE WEEK EXPERTS!!
