Sewage Advisory
committee:
Mandate expanded
—costs to follow

Lakeshore Advance
The newly formed Lambton Shores
adhoc committee that was created to
deal with Zone 3 and 4 issues has
already conte to council asking for
amendments.
It has only been six months since the
resolution for the sewage collection
issues advisory ad hoc committee was
agreed upon, and less than that since
the committee was formed and this
body has asked to expand their man-
date and for funding from those cur-
rently paying for sewers. At least two
Lambton Shores councillors feel the
whole municipality is not being consid-
ered in this request.
How come
In his report to council Chair Dr. Carl
Belke said the rationale for the sug-
gested change in the mandate was:
"1. Based on the "master plan", the
2011 capital budget, the draft "OP" and
other sources, the ewage Treatment
Facility (S'1'F) and the extension of the
collection system are directly linked.
As such, taxpayers issues on the
design, total costs and taxation issues
can better be addressed by looking at
the total master sewage servicing plan."
"2. The study area is under close
scrutiny by the three municipalities
involved and there appears to areas that
may be excluded from the study areas,
such as private subdivisions and areas
in South Huron and Bluewater. As such,
could bring about a greater debt and
taxation load on zone 3 and 4
taxpayers."
"3. Limited work has been done on
alternate green technologies, currently
available globally."
