The group departed on 31 and returned on June 3. Some of their stops included a visit and mass at St. Anne's Basilica, a sugar shack and a dance at a ski lodge. They were joined by two teachers and several parent chaperones. Grade 7 and 8 students of the Zurich Public School went on a class trip to Ottawa from June 6 to 8 along with teachers and some parents. Students from grades 2 to 5 went to the Museum of Archaeology. The public school is putting together a cookbook and would appreciate favourite recipes from former students. Call Claudia Martin at 519-236-7099. Several women from the Mennonite church got together on June 9 to do some quilting and comforter tying at the fellowship hall. Afterwards, all enjoyed a potluck lunch at the home of Cathy Shantz. 'the group will not be meeting in the summer. Members of St. Peter's Lutheran church youth group and leaders enjoyed an entertaining evening of music and comedy on June 17 at St. Paul's Cathedral in London which was put on by the diocese of Huron. 'Ihe summer reading club will be held at various libraries from June 4 to Aug. 26 for children of 4 to 12 years. The theme is "Slash - Celebrate summer': The free program in Ilensall will be 'Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. for age 4 to 6 years and again from 4 to 5 p.m, for 7 to 12 year olds. At shuffleboard in St. Marys on June 2, Jack and Joan Powell won bronze. Vesta Miller of Dashwood and LaBelle 1 Toffneyer won first in bridge. Personals Several relatives from the Zurich area attended the wedding of Brent 1 loffman and Amanda Johnston on June 4 in Ancaster. Brent is the son of Jim acid Donna Hoffman of Dashwood. The couple is living in Toronto. Christa Schilbe of Vancouver spent last week visiting her parents, Brenda and Richard Schilbe in Zurich and attended her cousin's wedding, Another great fun and exciting time was had by 14 participants on our annual 'wild women's weekend' which was held in Toronto on June 4 and 5. 'Ibe weekend was organized by Meagan Sweeney with assistance by Brittany Eybergen and Heidi Klopp, While in Toronto, we enjoyed going to the Distillery District with a guided tour and the Steam Whistle Brewery with free samples. On Saturday we went to a mystery dinner theatre and on Sunday morning we attended mass and enjoyed a brunch. Martin and Cheryl Gelinas are happy to announce the arrival of their first grandchild Melody Veda Gelinas, who was born on June 3 to proud parents Marcel and Amy of llderton. Melody is also another great grandchild for Mary -Lou Denomme of Zurich. David and Tracey Regier of R2 Zurich spent the weekend in Leamington. David was made a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus at a special ceremony. Other men from the area also attended. Wayne and Jody Schilbe of Calgary are spending 10 days in the area visiting their parents, !Uteri and Marge Schilbe in Zurich and Gard and Jeanne Hay from Exeter. Me Schilhes also enjoyed staying at a cottage' in Grand Bend for a week. Mary -Lou Denomme, Zurich and her sister Patricia Murray of London recently travelled to Calgary for a two-week vacation with relatives Stephen and Diane Murray and family. 1likia Lansbergen of Zurich along with her sister Tess from Mitchell recently spent five days in Massey, Ontario visiting Hilda's nephew and family. Congratulations go out to bride and groom Courtney Overholt and Justin I.aPorte who were married at St. Boniface church on June 11 with dinner and reception at the illuewa- ter Complex with several relatives and friends attending. Courtney is the daughter of Mike and Charlene Overholt and Justin is the son of Dwayne and Theresa LaPorte, all of Zurich.
