Deb Crown moves up to District A Commander

It was 1984 and Debbie Crown decided to join
the Royal Canadian Legion, Her father Andy and
her brother Ron were already members. By 1993
Ron was president and was also Boson for the
Grand Bend air show and he couldn't go to a
meeting, so Debbie stepped in to take notes. She
asked what she could do to help and it was
suggested she join the executive so she could stay
on as air show volunteer. And that was the
beginning. Her first job
on the executive was treasurer and the following
year she took on the secretary treasurer position.
in June 2000 she was first vice and then president
in 2001 and kept that position for two years. During
her time on the executive she also held zone
positions. In 2(1) 5 she progressed to deputy zone
commander and by 2007 she was zone
commander. in 2(X)9 Debbie was deputy district A
commander and now, on May i I she will be

PORT FRANKS COMMUNITY CENTRE ROOF REPLACEMENT
The Munlclpality of lambton Shores is seeking pre -qualified persons for the removal and replacement of
the asphalt shingles on the Port Franks Community Centre roof. There will be a mandatory pre-bid Job walk
will be conducted at the site on Friday April 29ei, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at which time proposal packages will
be distributed to all attendees. The Port Franks Community Centre Is located at 9997 Port Franks Road,
Port Franks Ont.
Attendees should assemble outside the main
entrance promptly at the specified date and time.
Failure to attend thls job walk will result In
disqualification from bidding on this project.

polymer based material over the pre-existing roof area. The Legacy Centre Is located at 16 Allen Street,
Thetford, Ontario. Proposal packages can be picked up at the Municipality of lambton Shores -Forest

GRAND BEND BEACH STUDY
The Municipality of Lambton Shores has undertaken a
Research & Consultation initiative to determine how to
enhance the Grand Bend Beach for the enjoyment of
residents and visitors, and serve the community's needs Into
the future.
The final draft report will be presented at the Council
meeting held Monday, May 16"', 2011 at the Thedford Village Complex at 7:05 p.m.

impaired driver

On the 23rd of April, shortly before
3:00 a,m,, OPP were called to the Tim
Norton's on Ontario St, Grand Bend
for a possible impaired driver, Officers
responded to that location and
stopped a 1999 Ford van. kis alleged
that the male driver was found to be
under the influence of an alcoholic
beverage and arrested. A 35 year old
male from North Middlesex will
appear in Sarnia court on May 16th
facing charges of Impaired Driving
and being Over the Legal Limit.

Police have Identified a 79 -year-old
woman killed In a two -car crash in
north Lambton Wednesday.
Lambton OPP said Maria Tulpin, of
Thedford, was attempting to make a
left hand turn into a private drive
when another car allegedly struck hers
from behind on Northville Road.
That driver, James North, 59, of Port
Franks, was taken to hospital with non
life-threatening injuries.
Police say charges are pending.
Catalytic converter stolen from van
It is alleged that sometime betwe '
10:30am and 3:00pm on the 24th
April, culprits attended a residence in
the 8000 block of Ravenswood Road,
Thedford, Thieves stole a catalytic
converter from a 1992 van. The
investigation is continuing. The exact
value of the stolen items is not known,
however each part would generate a
financial return when sold for their
scrap value.
