important question we have tonight;'
Robertson said. "If we can't keep our
young people here, we don't have
much of a future."
First on Robertson's list of priorities
to attract and keep young adults in the
riding is agricultural policy. 1 le pro-
posed that a Risk Management Pro-
gram, with funding from the provin-
cial and federal governments, would
help level the playing field and attract
Imre farmers.
Furthermore, he said I110re
should be done to grow the econ-
omy for a wider variety of jobs. l le
saki an N1)P government would
focus on helping small businesses
by lowering their taxes.
"For the last decade, all of the
breaks have gone to big business,
banks and the most profitable corpo-
rations," he said,
Valenta said sustainable jobs conte
from the private sector, and he would
want to see a tax reduction on corpo-
rations and ptivate investment.
Bagnato also said risk manage-
ment is key to encourage young
farmers to take over the family busi-
ness, but added that a Liberal gov-
ernment would also invest in green
jobs through the development of
clean energy such as biomass, wind
and solar.
Limited opportunities for young
adults in Huron and Bruce counties
motivated Shelley, who is' 23 years old,
t0 11111 111 this election. Ile focused
largely on education, and saki that
more students would stick around if
there were college and university sat-
ellite campuses In the area.
"Having a satellite campus would
also assist with job retraining, which is
another important issue that needs to
be addressed with the aging demo-
graphic," Shelley said.
Ile added that the average Cana-
dian changes jobs four or five tinges in
their life.
The Conservatives have nutde the
economy their number one priority
throughout the campaign, and Lobb
didn't waver in that approach. Ile

mentioned that the federal govern-
ment recently invested $1 million to
provide small business loans. Ile
said it's important to "create an
environment in Canada and in
Iluron-Bruce where employers
want to growl` and continue to
provide jobs.'
"'These are the types of initiatives
that will grow our economy in a
world that is a very global, competi-
tive plat('('."
