Heart and stroke volunteer guest speaker at WI
Lakeshore Advance
Jose Parker, a volunteer
with the Lambton Heart anti
Stroke Foundation was guest
speaker at the February
Grand Bend Women's Insti-
tute meeting. From the
informative discussion we
learned as many women as
men die of heart disease and
stroke. 'these diseases are the
leading cause of death among
Canadian women. Few
women are aware of their risk
factors and how to manage
them, and they often ignore
their symptoms.
Five warning signs of a
heart Attack are:
• Chest pain or discomfort
IS Pain in the arm, neck jaw,
or hack
• Nausea, indigestion or
vomiting
live warning sign of a
stroke are:
■ Sudden: weakness or
numbness
■ trouble speaking
• vision problems
• severe headache
■ dizziness
