S. DIANE MALCOLM
With sadness, we announce the peaceful
passing of Diane Malcolm (nee Smibert,
Hudson), age 69, after a long and coura-
geous battle with cancer on Thursday, Janu-
ary 20th, 2011, surrounded by family at her
Grand Bend home.
Diane was predeceased by parents, Sam
and Phyllis Hudson of St. Thomas and, for-
mer husband, Barry Smibert of Kitchener -
Waterloo. Diane was the beloved wife of
Keith Malcolm of Grand Bend and devoted
mother of sons, Scott Smibert (Lisa) and
Trevor Smibert (Lisa) of Kitchener -Water-
loo. Diane will be missed by brothers Terry
Hudson (Jackie) of Strathroy, David Hudson
(Nadine) of Dallas, Texas, sister Bonnie Fox
(Jim) of Collin9wood, mother-in-law Marjorie
Malcolm of Mitchell and brother -law, Bruce
Malcolm (Gayle) of Simcoe. She will also be
missed by Barry Smibert's family: Maureen
(Don), Wanda and Vaughn and her aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Diane worked for BMO Financial for many
years and was co-owner/manager of the
pet store, The Animal Inn, for 25 years at
the Conestoga Mall and Waterloo Square
in the Kitchener -Waterloo area. In recent
years, with husband Keith's help, Diane took
up and very much enjoyed the game of golf.
It's that zest for new things in life, along with
Diane's loving kindness and gentle wisdom
that will be deeply missed by all her family
and friends. Heaven is a brighter place for
her presence.
Family and friends will be received at the
Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St.,
Mitchell on Saturday, February 5, from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. where a celebration of Diane's
