Funding towards the creation of a rural stormwater management
The Ontario Ministry of the Environment has announced $700,000 in funding towards the creation of a rural stormwater
management model that will benefit all of rural Ontario. The InnovatR a water quality project will be led by the
Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) in partnership with the Maitland Valley, St. Clair Region, Saugeen
Valley, and Grey-Sauble conservation authorities and the Lake Huron South East Shore partnership for Healthy Lake
Huron: Clean Water, Clean Beaches. Announcing the Showcasing Water Innovation program support, near Exeter on

A Tuesday morning announcement
provided a watershed moment for the
Ausable Bayfield Conservation
Authority,
As London West MPP Chris Bentley
took to the podium on behalf of provin-
cial Environment Minister Jinn Bradley,
Conservation Authority staff members
from a region stretching south to Sarnia
and north to'lbbermory learned the lib-
eral government is stepping up with
$700,000 grant that will allow ABCA to
lead the way on a comprehensive rural
storm water management model that will
assist 28 communities by supporting cost-
effective ways to improve drinking water,
wastewater and stone -water systems.
Noting the funding is being released in
conjunction with the province's Water
Opportunities Act introduced two years
ago, Bentley says the funding commit-
ment will allow the province to "take
advantage of the expertise we have here"
He adds the announcement is an
"exciting one" because it helps to launch
the creation of a storm water manage-
ment model that has never done before
for astral areas.
