It must be Movember because many of the local guys
have made the choice to add facial hair and the Gables
MoBro team is geared to go.
The head start of the holiday season has
ecome marked by facial hair on the men
we know and love (and pass on the street).
Movember, or "No -Shave November," is the
world's largest charity event raising funds and
awareness for cancer affecting men, specifically
prostate cancer, and Canadians are among the biggest
supporters of the mission.
Moustaches may not be the most popular look with the
ladies, but there are ways for guys to make the most of the
mos - whether they're growing a handlebar or a horseshoe.
So here's to looking good, for a good cause.
Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards
for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and
words, they raise awareness by prompting private and
public conversation around the often -ignored issue of
men's health.
The Gables team, under the leadership of Larry Mason,
has a group of Movember brothers, those guys who are
donating their upper lip to the cause for 30 days. This
group will spark conversations, and no doubt generate
some laughs; all in the name of raising vital awareness and
funds prostrate cancer. To donate go to movember.com-
click on Donations menu on the left and follow the instruc-
tions. Or stop into the Gables to make a donation. The
team members are also around town asking for
donations.

The Movember Effect: Awareness &
Education, Survivorship, Research
The funds raised in Canada support
the number one male cancer, prostate
cancer.
The funds raised are directed to
programs run directly by Movember
and our men's health partner, Pros-
tate Cancer Canada. Together, the two
channels work together to ensure that
Movember funds are supporting a
broad range of innovative, world-class
programs in line with our strategic
goals in the areas of awareness and
education, survivorship and
research.

No smatter the country or city,
Movember will continue to work to
change established habits and atti-
tudes men have about their health, to
educate men about the health risks
they face, getting there to act on that
knowledge thereby increasing the
chances of early detection, diagnosis
and effective treatment.
