Phase 1 to modernization
On Friday, October 21st, the community of Forest celebrated the completion and official
opening of Phase I of the modernization of the Forest Curling & Social Club. Approximately
90 people attended and heard congratulatory remarks from the Club President (and Co-
chair of the Fund Raising Committee) Mike Ash; Martin Underwood, Lambton Shores Ward
5 Coundllor, and Jordan Dennis, Grant Review Team member Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Phase 1 was fully founded through the financial suPpo.t of the membership, community
businesses, Foundations and various fund raising activities. Ground floor enhancements
such as weahrooms, dressing rooms, and ice viewing areas will serve the 200+ members
and visiting curlers, Wellington Builders were the successful bidder on the project and all
attendees at the event were impressed with the end results. The membership certainly
looks forward to Phase II, timing of which will be dictated by raising another approximately
$360,000. (L -R) Jordan Dennis, Ontario Trillium Foundation; Martin Underwood, Lambton
Shores Councillor; Mike Ash, Club President; Lynn VanHaaren, Chair of the Building
Committee; and Mac Webster, Club Manager and ice Technician.
