Grand Bend WI gives to Goderich tornado relief
Thomas Jasper from Goderich vis-
ited the Grand Bend Women's Institute
meeting to receive a donation to the
Goderich Tornado Fund. The GBWI
donation was the result of the hotdog
sale at the Thanksgiving Farmers' Mar-
Clillt on October 8. In addition to this
ionation, money was also given to an
Emergency Fund so badly needed for
the Goderich residents.
The Grand Bend Horticulture mem-
bers Cecily and David Boyle gave an
interesting presentation to the WI
members. The slide presentation and
cotnmentary told of the work of this
group of volunteers. The Horticulture
Society plants and maintains many
flowerbeds and boxes

'Ihe display case at the Grand
Bend library maintained by the
Grand Bend Women's Institute
contains a collection of thim-
bles. These thimbles, most of
them porcelain but some plastic
are part of the collection of two
of aur WI, members, Ruby
I.agerwerf and Elaine Wardle.
While travelling Elaine became
interested in thimbles, as they
are easy souvenirs to pack in a
suitcase. This thimble display
will remain until mid November.
A very favourable treasurers
report was given concerning the
Thanksgiving Farmers' Market.
President Donna explained that
Dungannon WI is asking for
help to make quilts for residents
of Goderich that suffered loss in
the tornado. Karen Waters capa-
bly presented "Life Is Like That".
She quoted Robt. Bateman.
Nature is beautiful, Nature is
cruel, but Nature doesn't know
it.
Our next WI meeting is
November 17 at 1:30 at the
Grand Bend Adult Centre. We
are to bring donations for the
