Jesse loves to be a LIttle and he loves that it is Lindsay Hayter who is his Big. 'three years ago Hayter had finished university and wanted to give back. After getting a business degree and landing a retail job at her family's busi- ness, Hayter said she knew how blessed she was and wanted to share. When she met with South Huron Big Brothers and Sisters she was told she could be part of a group called Big Bunch or as a school mentor or as a BIG one on one. She asked for someone who had been waiting and Jesse fit that profile. He was fine with having a girl as a BIG as long as she was fun- and fun she is. The now grade 7 student says the two of them bike and hike and take trips and just have fun. Hayter says she gets to do things that "she should be too mature to be doing" and that is a blast. Big Brothers and Sisters is a non-profit charitable organiza- tion that provides a safe forum where children in need can form meaningful, positive rela- tionships with caring adults. The mission is to strengthen the community through men- toring programs. Applications are accepted from single and dual parent families for chil- dren in need of their service. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of South Huron has been pro- viding the Big/Little mentoring program for 30 years. We match screened and trained adults, 18 years of age and older with children in need, 6-16 years of age. Each mentoring match is carefully monitored 'support and training is provided.
