A Taste of Huron
Third annual Taste of Huron continues this week
Lakeshore Advance
The third annual award-winning Taste
444 of Huron culinary festival will hit
Ontario's West Coast from August 29 to
September 10, 2011 to celebrate all things
food and blues in Huron County.
New this year are great partnerships
with other events, and shuttle services in
the County for larger events.
"Huron County has many events and
festivals during the summer" says Jenna
Ujiye, Tourism Marketer for the County of
Huron.
"This year we have partnered with the
West Coast Bluesfest and the Huron Pio-
neer Threshers to help make alt of the
events bigger and better!"
The Taste of Huron event kicked -off last
week with the first of seven Food for
Thought dinners held throughout the
two-week celebration.
The dinner series will see various din-
ing establishments located in the County
present a special menu to compliment a
food -related topic discussed by a guest
speaker at a $40 price point.
Culinary workshops will be held at var-
ious locations throughout the County.
Home chefs and food enthusiasts will
have the opportunity to work with local
chefs and food specialists.
The workshops are a hands-on and par-
ticipants will learn unique culinary tech-
niques for a cost of $20 each or a 5 -work-
shop pass is available for $80.
Topics include: fish, pies, spring rolls,
eggs, pasta, gluten-free cooking, herbs,
butchery, etc. The events coming up this
week are:
To encourage participation in all three
events, we've added shuttle services from
various points in Huron County to the
larger events for Taste of Huron, West
Coast Bluesfest and the Huron Pioneer
'Threshers.
Most shuttles are provided on the
weekends, between Rayfield, Blyth,
Exeter, Goderich and Wingham. Day trips
will be $5 per person a round-trip and
night trips will be $10 per person for a
round-trip.
Plus don't miss out on agricultural his-
tory at its best! The 50th Annual Huron
Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Show in
Blyth is open to the public on September
9, 10, and 11, 2011.
Dinners, dances, antique shows and
farm tours are just a few of the events
happening during the reunion.
"lluron County is one of the most agri-
culturally productive counties in Ontario"
says Ujiye. "The collaboration between
the 't'hresher's and Taste of Huron is a
perfect match."
