HomeMy WebLinkAboutLakeshore Advance, 2011-09-07, Page 174 'qtr Wednesday, September 7, 2011 • Lakeshore Advance 17 A Taste of Huron Third annual Taste of Huron continues this week Lakeshore Advance The third annual award-winning Taste 444 of Huron culinary festival will hit Ontario's West Coast from August 29 to September 10, 2011 to celebrate all things food and blues in Huron County. New this year are great partnerships with other events, and shuttle services in the County for larger events. "Huron County has many events and festivals during the summer" says Jenna Ujiye, Tourism Marketer for the County of Huron. "This year we have partnered with the West Coast Bluesfest and the Huron Pio- neer Threshers to help make alt of the events bigger and better!" The Taste of Huron event kicked -off last week with the first of seven Food for Thought dinners held throughout the two-week celebration. The dinner series will see various din- ing establishments located in the County present a special menu to compliment a food -related topic discussed by a guest speaker at a $40 price point. Culinary workshops will be held at var- ious locations throughout the County. Home chefs and food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to work with local chefs and food specialists. The workshops are a hands-on and par- ticipants will learn unique culinary tech- niques for a cost of $20 each or a 5 -work- shop pass is available for $80. Topics include: fish, pies, spring rolls, eggs, pasta, gluten-free cooking, herbs, butchery, etc. The events coming up this week are: To encourage participation in all three events, we've added shuttle services from various points in Huron County to the larger events for Taste of Huron, West Coast Bluesfest and the Huron Pioneer 'Threshers. Most shuttles are provided on the weekends, between Rayfield, Blyth, Exeter, Goderich and Wingham. Day trips will be $5 per person a round-trip and night trips will be $10 per person for a round-trip. Plus don't miss out on agricultural his- tory at its best! The 50th Annual Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Show in Blyth is open to the public on September 9, 10, and 11, 2011. Dinners, dances, antique shows and farm tours are just a few of the events happening during the reunion. "lluron County is one of the most agri- culturally productive counties in Ontario" says Ujiye.
