One student asked him what he did. It was at that moment that Shaw realized the bowling and Sunday school teaching might not cut it - and he has never looked back. Shaw has been nominated for the 2011 Ontario Medal for Good Citizen- ship. South Huron councillor 'Tont 'fosses made a resolution to that council to nominate Shaw and so the process began with their unanimous nod. The award honours people who have made outstanding contributions to their communities over the years. And if anyone has done that -it is surely Shaw. In 1968, when Shaw was just in his mid 20s he decided to run for political office. He had been teaching for three years. So, he ran and he won. During that time, the former South Huron Association for the Mentally Retarded (now Community Living) was looking Lynda ►NNm<tn-RapNy Bruce Shaw for a new building and Shaw became campaign chair for the building fundraising.
