Rapid Response units offer better "stop the clock" service to patients Lynda Hillman -Replay Lakeshore Advance Huron County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) now has tour Rapid Response Units on the road to better serve the community and a newly pro- posed deployment strategy that falls into the response time mandate of the province when it comes to ambulance service response. Dave Lew, Chief Emergency Services (ES) and Jeff Horseman, Deputy Chief ES explained to the Lakeshore Advance what the new strategy means and how this will benefit patients. A new deploy- ment strategy document will be released in the very near future- the Ministry of Health currently has it in their office to sign off. Since the late 1990s the benchmarks for response times have been changing in order to improve response to the patient. Today the legislated response time for CTAS level one- that being emergency is eight minutes.
