Driving a few blocks in an unin-
sured vehicle with no licence has
cost a Lttmbton man $9,500 in
fines.
Clinton Dwayne Gressette, 35, of
Kettle Point, pleaded guilty'ihurs-
day to driving while disqualified
in an uninsured vehicle Jan, 28 in
l.ambton Shores.
Ile was driving without lights in
a late afternoon snowfall when he
pulled into a convenience store
parking lot and was questioned by
OPP officers.
Ile admitted not having a
licence or insurance, and said he'd
just driven a couple blocks to rent
a movie.
Bressette was a disqualified
driver due to a 2009 impaired
Drive to rent a movie was costly
driving conviction. lir hadn't
taken the mandatory steps to have
his licence reinstated after the
court-ordered driving ban ended.
Ile had a prior conviction for
driving without insurance, which
doubled the $5,000 minimum fine
to $10,000.
It isn't cheaper to drive without
insurance, said Justice Mark l lorn-
blower, who added Bressette could
have walked to the store in less
time that it took to conclude
'Thursday's court proceedings.
Iiornblower lowered the no -
insurance fine to $7,000 for
Gressette, who is receiving a tem-
porary disability pension, but
there is a mandatory 25 per cent
surcharge. A $750 fine was
imposed for driving while
dis(ivalified.
A one-year driving ban was also
imposed.
Brawl In streets
of Exeter lead to
numerous charges
Two Exeter males have been
charged following a brawl on July
6, 2011 in Exeter. The incident
was directed at the involved vic-
tims and is not believed to pose a
threat to the general public. The
fight began at the north end of
Exeter and it quickly developed
into a chase between the accused
and the victims that wound

through the streets of Exeter. The
incident came to in end on Main
Street in the downtown area
where the brawl actually
occurred.
The investigation was large and
numerous witnesses were inter-
viewed by police. As a result, A 30
year old South Huron man was
charged with one count of Assault
With a Weapon, one count of
Assault, one count of Theft Under
$5,000 and one count of Criminal
Harassment. he was held in cus-
tody pending a Bail hearing at
the Ontario Court of Justice -
Goderich on July 7th.
In addition, a 29 yer old South
lluron man was also charged with
one count of Assault With a
Weapon, one count of 'Threat to
Cause Death or Bodily harm, one
count of Dangerous Driving, one
count of Breach Probation and
one count of Mischief Under
$5,000. Ile was also held in cus-
tody pending a Bail llearing at
the Ontario Court of Justice
Goderich on July 7th.

On July 18, at around 10:15
p.m., Lambto11 County Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) was noti-
fied of an erratic driver that was
travelling on Mollard Line in the
area of Grand Bend Line. The
Chevrolet was subsequently
stopped and while speaking with
the driver it was determined that
he had been consuming alcoholic
beverages. Subsequent tests indi-
cated that a 24 -year old Grand
Bend Iran was over the legal limit.
Ile will appear in a Goderich court
on August 29, 2011 to speak to the
charge of Impaired Driving.
