Zumba on the beach for MS research this weekend
Lakeshore Advance
Local woman Kandis Hodgins
continues to raise dollars for
Multiple Scoliosis research and
says fundraising is going great.
'The Lakeshore Advance told
readers from October 20 to
November 6th, Kandis will be
_441lmbing to Base Camp of Mount
L' Brest to help raise money and
awareness for MS. Her mother
Lori was diagnosed with MS 16
years ago and Kandis became an
avid MS Bike tour rider and will
now take her fight for research
even higher.
This past weekend was the
RONA MS tour and Kandis said,
"The Bike Tour this weekend was
great. As Captain of The Kick-
stands, we are a small team of
friends and family, and are hop-
ing to continue to grow and
attract new people to the ride. It
was a hot weekend, but perfect
for a long bike ride! With over
2,000 riders it is truly unreal to
see so many participants and
volunteers corning together all
with one thing in mind, to help
End MS"
"Biking was always something
that my mom loved to do, and
that was taken away from her a
few years after she was diag-
nosed with MS. I also enjoy the
energy of all the people partici-
pating and volunteering, I think
it's great that so many peo-
ple come together to raise money
in hopes of finding a cure for MS.
The ride has helped my mom to
continue to feel inspired by the
dedication and determination of
the bikers that participate each
year in hopes to help the MS
Society of Canada become even
closer to finding a cure," she
said.
Fundraisers
"On July 1st, I wrapped myself
in Duct 'Tape sticky side out and
friends held signs that read
"Stickin' it to MS': I made $500 in
two hours. It was a lot of fun.
Training for her trip is going well,
and the YMCA in Parkhill has
been great in helping her with
this.
On July 30th, (Saturday) at 9:00
a.m. on the upper level of the
Beach House in Grand Bend
llodgins is hosting ZUMBA on
the Beach with Zumba Instructor
Jennifer 'Lily from OM Yoga Stu-
dio who has donated her time.
There will be a $10 fee for the
Zumba, which will be going all
