--�� A lovely new wooden trophy case is now on the wall in the
_ omplex, which was made by Sylvia Neeb for the Agri. Society.
Members of the Mennonite church held their worship service
and gathering outdoors at the Zurich park pavilion on Sun., July
17 followed by a potluck picnic lunch with guests attending from
the Jane Finch Faith Community in Toronto who were billeted
overnight on Saturday at various homes in the area.
The Fish Fry at the Legion in Hensall was postponed to
another date in the future.
Has everyone noticed how nice all the flowers look in town
along main street and Goshen. Thanks to all the people who
have been watering them such as Doug and Joyce McBeath.
Announcements
The last meeting of the Agricultural Society was held on July
12 at the complex. President Joan VanSlIgtenhorst welcomed
everyone and the minutes of the June meeting were read by
Diane Klopp. Theresa Hendricks gave the treasurer's report and
final plans were made for the upcoming fair this weekend. The
fair will begin with opening ceremonies at 7:30 p.rn. and pro-
gram with Daniel Steep and the Agric-kidabra show. Doors will
be open at 6 p.rn. BX 93 will be on hand for the evening. The
elimination draw and dance will be held from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
Music by The River Junction Band. There will also be a 50/50
draw.
On Sat., July 23 will be a penny sale and again on Sunday at
the jamboree at 1 p.m. Several activities will take place after the
parade at noon for all ages, even a bouncing castle for the kids.
The Babies on Parade show begins at 2 p.m. in the air-condi-
tioned auditorium. All babies are winners, plus door prizes
donated by the business in Zurich.
Donations for the penny sale can be given to Carmel. Call 236-
4702 or drop off at the hall either Thursday night or Friday morn-
ing of the fair.
Volunteers are needed to help set-up and take down. Anyone
wanting to be in the parade on Sat., July 23 are to be at the Zurich
Public School to line up by 11:30 a.m.
The appreciation evening for all those involved with the fair
and potluck supper will be held on Tues., July 26 at the park and
pavilion by the ball diamond at 6:30 p.m.
Children from age 4 -12 -years -old of Bayfield and Zurich
enjoyed their first week of summer camp doing various things
with themes for different days such as "School's Out - Monsters
are in. They brought the beach to the playground, played sport
games, and had wet & wild day every Friday, creative art day, cir-
cus fun, and large and in charge day. The kids will also be going
swimming in Vanastra this Thursday. Anyone still wanting to
join can still do so by calling Courtney LaPorte at the Municipal
Office 236-4351 for more information and prices for either a half
or frill day weekly. There are also family rates available. Children
can be dropped off between 8 to 9 a.rn. and picked up from 4 to
5 p.m. The program nrns until Aug. 19.
Vacation Bible School at the Zion Lutheran Church in Dash-
wood will be held from July 25 to 29 in the mornings from 9 to
noon. Please call the church office (237-3548) to pre -register the
name of your child and grade they will be going into this
'- ptember.
'Ihe ladies auxiliary meeting will be held at the resthome on
Tues., Aug. 4, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Music will be supplied by
Martin Gelinas. Sold quilt tickets and money can be brought that
night and given to Hilda Ready for the Bean Festival draw on
Aug. 27.
The Zurich community yard sale and fireman's breakfast is
going to be on Sat., August 13. Rain or Shine.

Congratulations to bride and groom Natalie LaPorte and Mat-
thew Steeper who were married on July 16 at the St. Boniface
Church by Fr. Graham Keep. Dinner and reception were held
near Ailsa Craig. Natalie is the daughter of Dwayne and Theresa
LaPorte of Zurich. The happy couple will be living in Exeter.
Tracey and David Regier of R2 Zurich are happy to announce
the arrival of their first grandchild. Little Shea Rose was born on
July 12 to proud parents Steven Regier and Tam O'Reilly.
