Man busted for one marijuana butt

Despite confusion about which
butt was his, a Windsor man
caught with marijuana at the
Grand Bend beach was fined $750
in Sarnia court.
Andreas G. llapides, 35, pleaded
guilty 'Tuesday to possession of
two marijuana cigarette butts on
May 24, 2010.
llapides was found in a vehicle
at the beach parking; lot wits)

alcoholic coolers at 4 a.m. Both
had been drinking and the officer
suggested they leave the vehicle.
As they exited an open cooler
bottle was spotted. A search pro-
duced two butts along with a mar-
ijuana grinder.
Hapides' lengthy criminal
record included drug offences.
"For once I ant pleading guilty
when none of it was mine ... 1 just
want to get this over with," Haiti -
des said following his plea.
Justice Mark Hornblower said
he could not accept a guilty plea if
llapides maintained he leas
innocence.
"1.et me rephrase. It was mine,"
said Hapides.

his response, and Hapides con-
ferred with his lawyer briefly.
After that, the court was told
both men had marijuana and one
butt belonged to Hapides, hut it
was impossible to sav which one.
His plea was accepted. He was
also placed on a year's probation
when he must stay away from
drugs as a reminder that mari-
juana is illegal, said 1lornhlower.

On lune 19, at around 12:45
a.nt., lanthton ()PP officers
stopped a GMC Envoy that was
driving erratically on Main Street.
It was determined that the driver
had been consuming alcoholic
beverages and subsequent tests
indicated that he was more than

old man from Strathroy will appear
in a Sarnia court on July 4, to

On lune 19, at around 2:00 p.nt.,
1.antbton OPP officers were called
to reports of a Pontiac car in the
(11tch 00 Ravenswood line in the
area of Northville Road. 'ihe driver
was not injured and while speaking
with him, officers determined that
he had been consuming alcoholic
beverages. Subsequent tests indi-
cated that a 47 year old from Lamb -
ton Shores was over the legal limit.
Ile will appear in a Sarnia court on
July 113, to speak to the charge of

Possession
On June 113, at around 9:30 p.m.,
l.amhton ()PP officers saw a group
of finales on Main Street across from
the OPP Detachment consuming
alcohol. Officers approached the
males and arrested two of them.
During a subsequent search, offic-
ers seized an undisclosed amount
Of suspected marihuana, cash and
assorted drug paraphernalia. One
of the 17 year old males from Kitch-
ener has been charged with Posses-
sion of a Controlled Substance for
the Purpose of'1'raffickiI g. and also
with 2 counts of Failing to Abide by
a court order. 'the other 17 year old
male from Kitchener is facing
charges of Possession of a Control-
led Substance for the Purpose of
Trafficking, and for Consuming
Alcohol while Tieing under 19 years
of age. Both will appear in a Sarnia
court at a later time to speak to the
charges.
